Why can’t the series that single handedly created Xbox live have dedicated servers?
I don’t know. Money?
People don’t want them?
Greed.

All good answers.
Also it just would be another feature for people to complain about.
Most console players are kinda stupid and don’t know they actually deserve better for their money.
That’s why I play PC (superior platorm) most of the day
This isn’t valve. And we don’t need people un-justifyingly booting other people.

Yeah bf3 is getting horrible with the booting I got banned for using assault kit.

The public matchmaking dedicated servers would have no Admins to boot you. The only difference you would notice is the lack of blackscreens and lag.
That is a good question. Maybe it’s not worth the time, effort, and money. It doesn’t really change gameplay that much. But like you said, Halo did almost single handedly create Xbox Live, it kinda deserves it.
Another question is why did GoW 3 get them and not Halo 4?

That’s unfair. Did Epic put there own money into the dedicated servers?
I don’t want them? Dedicates servers cost alot, are hard to manage and unlike the host system, they can all go down because of a power outage in Washington.
Also, because -Yoink!- is so cheap they probably will have hundreds of games running on one server so it will lag a -Yoink- ton.

Public dedicated servers my friend.

You do realize that p2p still requires dedicated servers to just match you up with other players right? The past week should be all the evidence that you need to see that even in a p2p system servers go down.
All the Xbox games with dedicated servers don’t charge their users more for the privilege. Why do you think Halo would?
As for “hard to manage” that has nothing to do with you, I, or any end user so its not our concern.

no, microsoft gave them a rainbow with a pot of gold at the end of it.
of course they put their own money into them
I didnt say we would be charged to play on servers, just that -Yoink!- wouldn’t buy enough servers and have too many games running on too few servers. See early Battlefield 3.
I know the actual matching is run through servers.
I also know that dedicated doesn’t mean extra work for me, I’m saying that 343/-Yoink!- doesn’t want to hire and pay extra people to do work on something that isn’t needed.
Really as long as they have good netcode we don’t need servers.
> People don’t want them?
Who, out of the community, doesn’t want them? Lol
