XBL Code of Conduct - re; hate speech

XBL code of conduct:

> -Don’t harass, abuse, or spam other players, or encourage other players to do so.
> -Don’t scream, yell, threaten, or stalk other players, or encourage other players to do so.
> -Don’t create a gamertag, profile content, Avatar action, Avatar content, or in-game content that other users may be offended by. This includes, without limitation, anything related to or suggestive of: profane words/phrases, topics or content of a sexual nature, hate speech (including but not limited to racial, ethnic, or religious slurs), illegal drugs/controlled substances, or illegal activities.
> -Don’t distribute, post, publish, upload, disseminate or discuss defamatory, infringing, obscene, sexual or unlawful materials in any format (images, audio, video, text, etc.). Prohibited materials include, without limitation, child -Yoink!- or illegal drugs. “Sound alike” words or phrases or puns that reference these topics are also prohibited.

Just need to clear up for all you that you AGREED to these terms. Violate them at your own risk. I talk about many of these things in private when I know my audience. It’s called “Tact, timing and taste”.

If you are playing against a group of people you don’t know, don’t start calling them racial, homophobic or sexist slurs, you should probably be banned for doing so if all you are there to do is cause a problem. Other people don’t PAY for this PRIVATE (NOT PUBLIC) service so they can be made fun of constantly and put down.

I just have everyone muted by default. I stick to party chat.

> I just have everyone muted by default. I stick to party chat.

Same here.

> I just have everyone muted by default. I stick to party chat.

My problem with that is that I actually LIKE to chat with people! I DON’T however like being called a homophobic slur all the time… if people don’t want to hear ME then they should mute ME and keep their hate speech to themselves or go join the Westboro Baptist Church and they can use their 1st amendment rights in a public place, NOT in a private arena in which they agreed to terms saying they WOULD NOT do that!

I’m pretty sure that everyone violates the first two

Yeah, everyone violates those first two rules on and off Xbox LIVE, some violate the first rules daily because they think it’s fun.

Yes that is in there. And yes I agree – be nice to people. Don’t be a jerk.

But what bothers me is that Xbox is “picking and choosing” what to enforce. This is wrong. Plain and simply wrong.

If they would enforce the part about cheating and glitching AS WELL. Then I would not be so insulted by this “sudden” enforcement.

Picking one and not the other is a big hypocrisy.

Just saying.

I’ve never heard of anyone ever being banned for this stuff. I figure most people would choose the “block communications” or use the mute feature and call it good.

Its still funny that they have the COC when people just break it everyday on live. Its called freedom of speech. If people dont like it, just block or mute. Its that simple.
