I posted about this well over a year ago, the x button to sell reqs as i open them still has a high failure rate and for some odd reason its extremely biased at blocking me from selling reqs i do not want. Reqs i want to use the x button works with 100% success.
This has given me access to the ONLY workaround to avoid cluttering my game with thousands of junk utterly worthless reqs: I have to hit x on a req i do want then hit b then x then b, x, b, x, b, x, b, x, b, x, b, x, b over and over sometimes for more than 30 seconds untill it unlocks the ability to sell unwanted reqs. Its not uncommon for me to spend a full 45 second intermission between firefight games to x, b, spam to make my way through a single “daily log in” pack with its grand total of 4 req items. Though I have had times where one of those has given me 4 bad items and none have been sellable then I have to wait some period of time for them to show up in my reqs so i can sell them.
If “reqs” is coming to halo 6, please make the sell function actually work
You can use this Chrome Plugin tool to sell your Reqs. Pretty useful.

the problem with that is I have to leave the game and go load up a web browser (i dont use chrome either i prefer firefox lol) sell off the junk reqs then play. I have a small selection of reqs that I find useful and dislike having to scroll/pass through all the rubbish reqs to find those ones I actually want, so when i get spammed with generic lightrifles warthogs mongooses and that sort of thing I just want to sell them immediately as i go through packs.
Stuff that I do use - wasps scorpions wraiths banshees and the few power weps of value always seem to have a working X sell button. Its just the things I dont want that don’t sell. Thats the bug - that things which I historically try to sell immediately are oddly blocked unless i do the weird x, b , x, b thing on an item i do actually want. I would record the issue/workaround but its hard to explain it as any other person would just see a sell being started then cancelled repeatedly then the selection changing to something else then it being sold unless i hadnt x. b. x,b’d enough in which case the selection would go back one and again sell, cancel sell cancel spam untill the unwanted req would be sold.
