WZFF still needs changes

Before I start, I just want to state that I in no way intend for this post to come off as hostile towards 343 Industries. Overall I am a fan of 343 and greatly appreciative of Halo 5 as a game and the level of community involvement 343 has shown in regards to the game. I as a Halo fan only want what’s best for the community, the franchise and 343 themselves.

The recent Firefight update was indeed a good step forward. However I am sure most of you agree that there are still changes to be made before the vast majority of the community are fully satisfied with Warzone Firefight.

Here are a of the changes I and, from what I’ve seen, many many others think the gamemode needs

  1. The increasing respawn timer HAS to go. I can see what 343 were trying to achieve with it’s implementation but it hasn’t worked. It’s a cheap and arbitrary punishment and the only difficulty it adds is artificial. Preventing people from playing isn’t making the gameplay itself more challenging, and it punishes their teammates as well. From my observations I can conclude that this is by far the most disliked feature of Firefight and it just needs to be removed, plain and simple.

  2. A lot of the bosses do need some nerfing. I know some people might just think ‘if you were a better player you could beat them’ but I don’t think this is true. A lot of these bosses are so ridiculously powerful that regardless of skill, you need to rely on luck more than you should, and often there simply isn’t enough time. For example, the Swarmlords. These are by far the most overpowered bosses in the game, one Swarmlord is on par with a Mythic Warden, but 5?! With usually about 3 minutes left on the timer? The vast majority of the time this simply isn’t possible to achieve. Please either nerf their health or spawn less of them. Also on Urban occasionally two Mythic Wardens will spawn defended by an army of Knights (which are themselves a handful) a whole lot of Banshees AND Wraith Ultras. Again with about 3 minutes left. This is totally unbalanced. Not to mention any Warden has the ability to rapid fire EMP’s at you, rendering even the most powerful vehicles utterly useless. There are other OP bosses as well but I will only put two examples, but please put more examples in the comments.

  3. The respawning is still very inconvenient. Although you spawn as close to the objective as possible, there simply aren’t enough respawn points on the maps and more often than not players have to go on a long trek to get back in the fight. Please either put more spawn points around the map, or implement the ability to respawn at a teammate’s location. Also, a lot of people call in really good vehicles only to be spawn killed by a Knight or something like that. Perhaps if possible implement more vehicle respawn points or some kind of safe zone around the vehicle spawns?

These are just a few but I’m sure there are more. Please leave more feedback and 343 I really hope you take this thread on board :slight_smile:

The most recent patch was only a Hotfix. An actual patch should be coming sooner or later.

It’s really annoying when the round starts and the clock starts ticking but you still have to wait until the enemies spawn, AND, you have to run to where they are, losing valuable seconds.

For the respawn timer I think it should be based on how many deaths you have. Due to the fact that you have unlimited lives it would be a good “punishment” for dying a lot. It would make players want to use the reqs they have so they have a better chance of living.

I agree, I’ve notice it takes between 5-10 seconds usually before you can start your goal to completing the objective.

No thank you, I’d rather not get “punished” because the enemies are omniscient,100% accurate, 1 - 3 shotting bullet sponges… Not really something “skill” can truly overcome.

And REQs should just be an advantage, NOT a requirement to even have a CHANCE of succeeding.

I agree with you. The enemies themselves are enough of a punishment :’)

Well said OP. Personally, I’ve decided to take a break from Halo. I’ve found WZFF is too frustrating, and not rewarding to play at all. It just isn’t fun. The Beta was too easy, but 343 over corrected. Its ridiculous.

Unfortunately, with the boss refresh, some of the brokenness got put into regular Warzone too :confused: Bosses spawning INSIDE the monument on Noctus?? No way.

agreed. the game type seems a bit unplayable at this point

  • 10 seconds respawns and near action.
  • No more 3 wardens inside bases.

Those Phaetons with regenerating health have got to go.

They need to limit the effectiveness of some of the AI. They are too darn good

Oh yeah, I’ve noticed the Malevian Armsmen have this too.
