WZFF Pet Peeves

WZFF is a hard but rewarding game mode, and one of the most popular in Halo 5. It’s very fun and challenging, but not without its anger-inducing elements.

What in WZFF never fails to frustrate and anger you?

My pick would be either Soldier swarms or Sniper Jackals.

I’d probably say using a Req station in the intermission round in an armory, only to have the next boss and his goons spawn in the very same armory that I’m in. Mostly on me for not always being quick enough.

Mythic, shields don’t regenerate unless you melee an enemy and enemies constantly have back up and are never alone and able to be taken down with one punch, prometheans have armor instead of shields, crawlers are annoying and keep on swarming you and can’t can’t really kill them with magnum because they are too quick, soldiers require a full clip of a magnum to break armor and a extra bullet to kill with headshots, that armor is really annoying especially when their numbers overwhelm you, when a enemy drops a light rifle it barely has any ammo, knights have that sweet spot which is impossible to hit when their back is towards you, soldiers spawn with SAWs (still trying to figure that one out), on attack on sanctum whenever the 4 soldiers spawn with mantis, especially that one in the top floor of the garage, knight bosses take forever to expose core, grunts shields are too strong for cannon fodder, grunt mech is way too strong and armored and is impossible to get the final kill on it hence making the commendation nearly impossible, banshees are so annoying as they only need a one fuel rod AOE shot to kill you and a few plasma shots to kill you and their accuracy is way to strong and accurate for a automatic weapon attachment, phaeton’s weak spot needs to be a bit wider but not too serious, why the heck is a hunter’s automatic fuel rod mini or whatever homing like a needler?, hunter’s armor needs to expose more weaknesses like the neck and knees, hunters are just way too fast for hunters, whatever happened to the golden hunters that could be used for mythic bosses like hunter elders or hunter ancients, elite’s shields need to be decreased a bit, jackal’s exposed area of the shield needs to be more exposed but not too much, grenades need to be drastically improved and more effective, Warden’s should have a few slots ore exposure to his core through his armor, goblin needs to have a better priority system for swarm attack, can’t be aiming at two mantis, two scorpions, and 3 other spartans shooting from afar, goblin weak spot damage shot be increased or multiplied, sniper lights should be increased, weapons despawn way too fast, final boss should have a time extension of a minute if there is only one boss remaining at only 25 % or lower health for whenever the boss is a second away from death or the boss dies but at the same exact time the game is ended as a loss, grunts with shields have voids tear but only drop regular plasma pistol ( still trying to figure that out), final bosses in home base like hunters and knigths are impossible to kill because its in an enclosed space and can’t be surrounded or flanked, how in the world do enemies find me or shoot at me when I’m clocked, have silent weapons, and have radar mod so I am a complete ghost (hunters are excluded based of their vision for technology), upgraded shields are too in efficient, all spartan lasers don’t do any efficient or significant damage against enemy vehicle boses, ghosts are to powerful during 2nd or 3rd round and their cannons are too powerful and accurate just liuke the banshees, how do ghost pilot shields stay so darn strong?, you can only hijack vehicles that prometheans drive when its a covenant boss or bosses, why can’t you hijack any vehicle that is not a boss?, these guys once team killed me after just chiping my shields chunk by chunk while I was getting reqs but it regened, then they killed me and didn’t give me an option to boot them, knockback loadout weapons do nothing on vehicles even though they are explicitly said that they do extra damage against vehicles, soldier warp is just stupid when you are about to kill or ram them. That was a whole hours worth of pet peeves for Fire fight of all variants, but Fire Fight is still one of my favorite game type on halo 5, if not it is the top favorite. So much broken but yet so much fun. Also it’s my best way to get xp and req points.

Probably being stuck by an elite halfway across the map and being forced to wait 30 seconds to respawn with 1 minuet left on the clock. Yep…

Noobs running over & killing me and everyone else that are trying to get the job done! They do it because they basically can’t help us.

I know that feeling and it sucks. Gravity Hammer usually does the trick, though.

As for my opinion, the sight of seeing that one Mantis boss falling into the garage on Sanctum gives me a migraine. It got to a point where I tried to catch it with a Wasp to prevent it from going in, but it failed miserably… :frowning:

Other players not bringing in vehicles to finish out round 5.
Tough early rounds before Req level 3 (8 ghost jockeys on Urban comes to mind).
Urban in general. Not very maneuverable for heavy vehicles due to all the junk in the street.

Stupid respawn locations.

The thing that frustrates me the most is: 4 Mantises on attack on Sanctum and like you said soldier swarms.

I’ve tried making boss fight situations like that easier as well, like on March on Stormbreak, sending enemies flying over the edge of the map with the Banshee, only to have them live out the round and lose the round. Feels good man.

Getting hijacked as your teammates will destroy your vehicle before you can spawn sometimes, the respawn timer increasing to 30 seconds is so annoying in the final round, using up or dying with a good weapon before you can get to the boss, the scorpion’s barrel resetting its position every time the warden shots you

I think the problem with the mode is the 1 hit kills, unrealistic homing attacks…doesn’t matter where you are, suddenly instant killed, even if the enemy has no visible sight of you, some cases spawn killed. The mode kind of feels about the same as legendary but it really depends on what waves get’s picked since it can be pretty easy or it can go pretty badly with most of the team dead. I think the main problems would be the Hunter auto-firing on air-units…which is weird since Hunters should really be vulnerable to air units then there’s the Grunt Mech that is ok but the homing attacks are a bit much, it’s like I could spawn with a high tier vehicle and be shot around a corner, instant killed before I could do anything.

Use a grinder on the Mantis. It will emp and damage him so teammates can help and you can stay alive

That’s mostly suicide to attempt that if he’s trapped in the Sanctum, wasn’t aware the Gravity hammer had an Emp…come to think of it some the weapon variations make no sense. Usually safer, quicker to just get a plasma pistol out because unless your close to the Mantis…you’re more likely to die when attempting to rush the Mantis.

Sure that’s not great plus the bugs where I spawn with a vehicle but end up being stuck with the infinite spawn timer for trying to spawn a vehicle.

Yeah I really hate that Mantis that always falls into the armory on Sanctum, it’s a 99% chance for a DNF.

I see your point on the hammer, but sometimes it’s just fun to use one in FF. Adding an Overshield can help boost survivability a bit too. If you really want to stick to practical weapons, the Echidna also has EMP functionality.

Sure I get it but risky. I tend to avoid using power ups since kind of feels like cheating…come to think of it I rarely use them, probably way too many stockpiled, just like the mongooses. Echnidia?, so like this…assuming you mean the Hydra.

I have about two major pet peeves, and a lot of smaller ones. But the major ones are:

  • It’s ridiculous how much vehicles outclass weapons. If you want to be as effective as possible, you will be in a vehicle 99% of the time after round 1. Which means, if you are a dedicated firefight player, getting fancy cool power weapons and powerups in req packs feels kind of like winning 100 grand only to find out it’s the candy bar. It’s simply bad game design. - My other huge pet peeve with firefight: why can’t we choose where to spawn? This is especially bad on Apex 7 and other maps that have limited places for vehicles to spawn from, which are far away from each other. Have you ever called in a Scorpion on Apex 7, and came out of the wrong base which is completely on the other side of the whole entire map? It takes a good two minutes to drive to the objective. Absolutely ridiculous. I see no reason why we can’t choose our respawn and vehicle spawn locations.

Fuel rod cannon doesn’t

Haha Knuckles is an echnida, but yes I’m referring to the Hydra variant. I too rarely use boosts in normal WZ but that because I rather use those REQ slots for weapons or vehicles. FF is a good playground to test out new combos or weapons you don’t normally use. You’re still contributing and taking out AI enemies but having a bit more fun with it

I guess you’re kind of right but my play-style for Firefight is mostly pistol then Halo 2 BR as soon as I can, then sometimes wraith for Hunters, tanks for heavy swarms of Promethean’s/Warden…I barely use air units in normal Warzone since too risky to get 1 shot as soon as I spawn so more likely to use them in WZ Firefight.
