As the title suggests, the Jackal’s beam rifles in Warzone Firefight are too strong against vehicles. I can understand being strong as anti-personnel, but there is no reason that any sniper rifle should be able to take out vehicles in 2-3 shots; especially considering there are usually two Jackals sniping one next to the other.
They need…
Slower rate of fire.
More visable scope flash.
Less than 100% accurate.
Reduced vehicle damage.
Reduced vehicle damage maybe, but I am mindful that it just makes the game that bit more playable in a challenging way.
If on foot, and I know there are Jackal snipers (those damn awful sneaky, snipey, rotten, stinking, sniping filth), I make it my primary business to take them out as soon as possible for the sake of the team. Jackals; rotten, snipey, stinking, awful… (etc)
…then I smack their corpses off the roof on which they stood, laughing as I go.
Sorry, I went off on one there.
Jackals. Die.
Grrr
I take it that you’ve never played much Halo 2 on Legendary, eh?

You’ll see the Jackals there, or perhaps not as the case may be! I started the Master Chief Collection on Legendary and it absolutely kicks butt (and I’ve not gotten too far with it yet!!). I found Halo 5 Legendary much easier, if that’s a description to use: “much easier”…
Jackals (with beams): Awful rotten stinking snipey…
Mr Edubabble, please calm down. You can kill some in a bit when the nippers are off Minecraft! (Talking to myself now!)
There’s this one particularly nasty one on Attack on Sanctum. It sits way back in an early round and spawn kills you when you have nothing to fight back against it.
Warzone Firefight. I think on any difficulty, a sniper jackal with a beam rifle can kill you in one or 2 shot(s). They can also doom you in some sneaky way.

Not even the entire campaign, literally the second mission in.
I have to admit, I’ve seen some -Yoink- plays by those jackals, me and a friend literally got dropped within seconds of eachother, by the same jackal, from different sides of the map.

Quite a bit, yes.
How does that relate to a sniper rifle destroying even the strongest vehicles from across the map where it’s impossible to fight back or have time to flee?
To put this in perspective, I’ve taken more than a couple rounds of an Incendiary Cannon in an ONI Wasp, and it’s survived. 3 rounds from a Jackal sniper, and the same vehicle type is toast.

There is one sniper jackal in Sanctum that’s on a platform in the background when the Hunters show up. I usually focus to take him out first, if not he’ll just pick us off 1 by 1. I always take the side corridor thru the low hills, kill him then use the beam rifle on the Hunters. Unless he spots me first. And if I’m not mistaken, he’ll kill you with 1 shot on Legendary.

Yeah, I just wanted to make a cheeky comment. I do agree that beam rifles shouldn’t turn vehicles into scrap paper the way that they do right now. Sniper Rifles are meant to be anti-personnel, not anti-vehicle, yet nobody is safe, no matter with how much armour they have around them.
It’s just another BS overpowered part of Warzone Firefight.
I just want to see old style jackals using the h2 beam rifle xD
I’m actually OK with sniper guns (no matter the make or model) damaging vehicles. Not to do the whole real life comparison but if I shot a sniper gun bullet at an ATV or Jeep it would definitely do damage. Even some tanks it would depending on the type of bullet.
I think they should do damage especially on the lower end vehicles ( mongooses, Warhog, ghosts etc) but things like tanks and wraiths, they shouldn’t do much unless your using the high ends ones aka norfang or something.

…and yet when I have the beam rifle, does it work in the same way? Actually, no, not for the most part. Is it me being a cr*p shot or does it favour the stinking, slimy, awful sneaky snipey jackals over us mere Spartans?

I agree, it’s unfair because it works differently for the AI than it does for the player. The Beam Rifle should behave the same way no matter who is using it. Difficulty should affect AI behaviour/intelligence, health, and numbers as well as the amount of damage the player takes, it should not give them weapons that home in on the player and behave differently than they should.
I don’t really have that big of a problem with their overall damage output, considering that regular snipers can do around the same amount of damage. The problem with them is their incredibly high accuracy and (this goes for literally every enemy AI in WZ) their FOV. I understand that these guys are meant to be crack shots, but nobody’s like that 100% of the time. Also, it’s not like their zoomed in all the time, so why are they still able to see me as soon as I peek out of cover right after they shot my teammates? This isn’t possible. Well, unless you’re a robot, of course.
They are one shot kills. I don’t have an issue with them the way the are.
Gotta be covert, I sneak closer to them and take them out. With all the cover around, the spartan abilities make you swift without being a s much of a sittiing duck like in past halos
