An interesting and quite useful tactic I had discovered in the Beta was the commandeering of Phaetons (particularly on Defend rounds.) The only problem is, most teammates will kill Phaetons. A quick EMP from a charged Plasma Pistol and you can hop right in. Even works on the boss Phaetons. If you have a mic, most definitely communicate your intent to hijack or you risk getting it blown up in your face.
Not sure this works any more. I’ve PP’d lot of Phaetons but all that happened was they explode and the pilot is ejected
Doesn’t work anymore. Can’t hijack anyone. Which is stupid.
I hope they fix it so you’re able to hijack any non-boss/essential enemy vehicles.
I did it just yesterday. Unless they fixed it since then.

I’ve hijacked ghosts and Banshees so far in Firefight but am yet to do it to a Phaeton.
I’m guessing you obviously can’t do it to the boss Phaetons though.
I believe this works if the phaeton is flipped upside down and the pilot is ejected, rather than getting out of it. normally when the pilot gets out by himself, the vehicle is destroyed. It seems to work best if the phaeton is upside down and ejects.
doesn’t work anymore. When you click the hijack option the phaeton is destroyed. 
I tried hijacking a ghost but I was never given the option to. I even tried shooting a grunt out of the pilot seat but the ghost self destructed once I killed him, even though I hardly damaged the ghost at all.
