Not seeing a major thread on this, but buried in the last Community Update, the following Warzone Loadout Weapons are scheduled to receive Req level changes today:
The biggest impact may be from the default BR moving down to level 2. Before, the AR+Magnum loadouts forced players into closer quarters during initial base capture battles in the opening stage of a match. Now, many players will be able to make their first departure from their home base with BR+Magnum. I wonder how that will impact approaches to the center base during the first minutes of a match.
Personally, I’m excited that my go-to level 6 weapon–Sentinel DMR–is being dropped to level 5. And as a big fan of the Void’s Tear+H2BR combo, I have to admit that it’s very fair to bump the H2BR up to level 5 for a longer gap between plasma pistol Req levels and the brrrap quick-kill of the H2BR.
[EDIT:] Good reminder from @Shadow Jester Z that points for kills are also being increased: kills earn more points for your team, but they do not accelerate your personal Req energy/level gain above the original rate.

Agreed, that H2BR was a reliable secondary for most of the game. But yes, having some of the DMRs at level 5 to access longer-range options earlier in the match is very nice.

The post said was that more match points are being awarded for kills and that this would have an effect of shortening “dead team walking” match stages.
[Edit:] Thanks for the reminder: added it/you to the OP.

From what I remember reading in the community update, they increased the amount of points scored for kills. I can’t remember if it also applies to boss kills, but each spartan kill points should be increased.
Very un-needed changes IMO. I don’t think the H2BR is that high level of a req. But then again I dont play warzone unless it’s turbo now. Besides H5 been stressing me out lately so I think I may go back to MCC for awhile.

I know exactly what you mean: it’s the ultimate clench workout.

Yeah the extended Magnum change is the universal disappointment among my group; at level 3, why not just use the TacMag for the range?
My go to weapons are tactical magnum and H2BR. Yes it will have a minor impact for me and probably for many of us seeing the H2BR up to lvl 5. I used to pick up the extended mag at lvl 2 but since now its lvl 3 it seems I will no longer pick it up no more since that lvl I have a tactical magnum. As for the DRM, I used to love that weapon before tuning, I honestly don’t like the slightly lower rate of fire. That’s just me but for some is a welcome addition to lvl 5.
Yes, making the original BR at req 2 will clearly kill the pistol meta. /sarcasm
Get with the times, 343. Lowering the normal BR’s req level won’t make it usable. The pistol and AR still outclass it in a lot of situations in the early game. Only thing that people use BR wise is the Longshot, Stabilization jets, and sentinel BR variants. This is because of recoil being removed when using these variants.
DMR being moved down a req level is nice, but I don’t see much use of it. (Maybe because of how MMR affected my matchmaking experiences when playing against other players.)
As for extended mag and H2BR being moved up, well… meh. I can understand it, but it wasn’t really needed.

The H2BR in my opinion should be lv 6
that weapon is really over powered now. But what I don’t get is why did they nerf the br but keep the h2br still in ranked.
but as I was saying h2br is to strong if I’m trying to get kills in warzone or I’m in competition with one of my friends to get more kills in warzone the halo 2 br would drop about 30 kills for me out of like 65-80 kills average. Keep in mind my tool of destruction is always low I use any and every thing to get kills I don’t just spam one thing especially in warzone

I couldn’t disagree more. We must have super different play styles. The only time a pistol kills me when I have a BR for the most part is if they get two shots on me before I know where they are. And the only time I think the AR out classes the BR is if you get ambushed in real close range.
This update is going to have a significant impact on the meta game in my opinion.

You must be a br master because everytime I get a 1v1 with a kid using a br in ranked either a magnum or ar I will win the only thing I’m scared of when someone uses uses a magnum and I have my ar out the br is so inaccurate it really funny how it was the best weapon now it’s the worst weapon in just one weapon tuning update.
In my opinion the br is only good in OG breakout and because you run a chance of two shoting someone even if you don’t get the two shots it will be a three shot just like magnum. That is the only time I will maybe use br is in original breakout

I’d like to think it’s different MMR’s, rather. Ever since the MMR update, there’s been a lot of differences in the experiences between player to player.
Then again, as you mentioned, we all play differently. I try to focus more on getting kills and playing defense. I noticed that people take the pistol and AR over the other weapons capable of getting a headshot is mainly due to how situational the standard BR is compared to it’s counter-parts. You’ll often have more of a success killing people with a pistol versus the BR due to how the pistol has no recoil when fired.
Again, this is from my perspective though. People you play against might favor the BR more than the pistol for its higher RRR. Nothing wrong with preference.
The meta won’t change for those with higher MMRs. Will still be the pistol/AR combo early game, that isn’t going anywhere unless significant changes happen to either the AR or the Magnum that make it less effective than the BR.
I assume these will also apply to Firefight. Happy with the standard BR and DMR changes, I don’t have an opinion about the other weapons since I haven’t unlocked them yet.

Completely agreed that the loadout at level 2 will fork according to playstyle, and I think that’s an intriguing element of this update: the presentation of 2 markedly different toolsets for the earliest stage/1st central base contest. My playstyle is much more flanking/map control than base capture/assault, so I’m forced into the marksman role much more and thus loving the earlier BR access. Being able to use a mid-distance weapon on Battle of Noctus against their bridgeway during the initial Monument base contest without ever having to step foot inside the base itself is a nice upgrade for me. And it’ll be great for people who stick to AR+Magnum as they meet more opponents who end up in close quarters with a BR. Loving the option range available.

Confirmed when playing last night that it’s indeed live in Firefight as well. I also noticed that it seemed harder for the enemy team to overreach and contest our 1st armory after leaving their home base; we were suppressing them from further away with the BR.
