WZ fans! What if 343 made WZ apart of BTB in H6?

Just wanting to gauge Warzone players’ perceptions of this idea… This is purely an idea that I thought of the other day that I think would positively benefit ALL Halo fans in terms of finding the kind of multiplayer experience we can all appreciate.

We all know that in dividing H5’s MP into two separate experiences altogether, Arena and Warzone, it has caused a lot of issues in the content development side of things. It has noticeably affected the quality of maps we’re getting… lots of recycled assets. Those original 6 WZ maps at launch, were only 3 maps, with modified versions of each to bring it up to “6” maps. On the flip side, remixes were introduced in Arena, where the same basic philosophy was applied. And the popular BTB game mode? No developer maps were ever made! It was all done through Forge. And the community was generally upset with ALL of these decisions.

Well, now going forward… WHAT IF… 343 made BTB maps for H6? Smaller than WZ maps, but bigger than the 4v4 Arena maps… a traditional map pool for the game was made. However WZ sees a bit of a downgrade, at least in terms of map size and player counts…

Traditional (PvP) BTB still applies, in the “Arena” sense, however BTB could also encompass a new take on WZ, where instead of 12v12 (PvE) on humongous maps (too big IMO), it would be 8v8 (still PvE) on properly scaled dev-made BTB maps for H6…

REQ stations would be present in critical choke points/landmark locations on-map, no recycled bases or assets are used, all maps have traditionally inspired designs and layouts, but it becomes more condensed, it becomes essential to defend teammates using REQ stations, capture bases, destroy the core of the enemy base… It’s ALL THE SAME… just a bit condensed.

How would the Warzone community feel about this? H6 would still be able to have all of the benefits of the REQ system/microtransactions, all while bringing a much more focused development system and MP suite for H6… Arena maps could also return to a more creative and traditional style of design, where maps have more variety relative to each other, and ultimately this could also potentially lead to Forge possibilities for Warzone game modes.

I personally think this is a great solution for the entire Halo community and its general interests and expectations out of future Halo games, and should be strongly considered by 343 for future Halo titles.

id like to keep them separate. they are very different game modes and i like both for what they offer. warzone is a lot more casual of a game mode and the whole req system doesnt fit the arena style you still get in btb

…and BTB isn’t a casual game mode?

I’m saying that this WOULD allow for the REQ system to work with a more traditional set of maps and focus on multiplayer content.

You would still have traditional BTB on top of WZ… BTB: Arena and BTB: Warzone.

I’d prefer 12 v 12 (possibly bigger) on maps larger than most of the wz ones. I’d support some quality dev made BTB maps as well. You should also remember that when Reach introduced invasion maps and had them pull double duty as BTB maps they didn’t work very well, at least IMO. It shouldn’t be a matter of taking out BTB or limiting warzone in order make room for the other.

no i never said btb isnt a casual game mode. i just think btb is less casual since it doesnt have reqs and ai.

warzone on btb style maps would be fun. but i just wouldnt want traditional btb replaced or in the same playlist with warzone btb

id probably enjoy warzone on btb style maps without ai and bosses significantly more than traditional warzone. i think i just got confused about you saying warzone we be apart of btb. my bad

I like them seperated like they are now.

It wouldn’t be… BTB: Arena and BTB: Warzone would be separate playlists. There would be NO chance to get one of the other in the same MM hopper…

Thanks for your input… I’d be much more inclined to play WZ, myself, if it were on BTB-style maps and was more traditional in feel.

I think that Warzone and BTB are different enough that they should be kept separate.

one of my biggest issues with warzone as it is now are the bosses. you dont even need map control to get the boss kills and win the game. getting killed cross map by ai that you werent even interacting with also sucks. warzone styled btb that didnt have ai would eliminate that whole thing. in general i dislike pve mixed in with pvp especially since it has such a huge input on the game.
tho i suppose better designed maps, where having map control would nearly guarantee you the boss kills would also fix this. and you would also know that if youre in that part of the map the ai will target you.

But they would be separate… within the realm of BTB.

Picture playing a tweaked and tailored WZ mode on Blood Gulch/Coag… then afterwards, if you wanted to play a more traditional match of BTB, switch to the BTB: Arena playlist where you would play Blood Gulch with a more traditional configuration, rules, and attributes…

Big Team Slayer? Flag? Heavies? Assault? It’s all a possibility…
