inb4 1000 replies defending 343 or saying ‘‘things change deal with it’’
I just found out about the oddball and flag autopickup. Now, that may seem like nothing much, or may seem like it doesn’t matter.
But it does.
It really…really does. I believe 343 has made a collossal mistake here by forcing players to pickup the objective and not only that, but restrict what they can do with it by not allowing you to drop it.
I’ve just come from a forum where as soon as people found out about this, every single post was talking about how this is a terrible choice and would result in them avoiding the flag completely and just playing it like slayer.
No longer can people simply grab the flag then drop it to reset the time, or grab it, carry it to another guy and transfer it, or try to throw the flag up to a ledge. It even comes down to combat, you cannot drop the flag to mask your position or pull out your shotgun when you are getting overwhelmed.
I think this has no positive value to the game of CTF and simply creates problems and makes people avoid the objective.
There is time to change this 343, don’t be naive and disregard these complaints as I am definitely not alone in my opinions. I can’t see why the flag can’t be pick-upable and droppable just like every other halo game.
Also, I don’t care if 343 has ‘‘said’’ that they will not be changing anything now. They better damn well do it. Nothing good will come out of this and they will be simply making one of the game’s favourite playlist unsporting.
They are shooting themselves in the foot if they decide to be ignorant about this.
The automatic pickup and waypoints will kill objective gameplay. I am going to call it early that there will be a “1.1 autoupdate” that rectifies and restores classic style CTF and objective gameplay.
How is this meant to be honoring and respecting Bungie’s legacy? I’m sick of this cowboy shoot-from-the-hip mentality that 343i seem to have.
I wonder if 343 will be smart enough to listen to what almost 100% of the community want and change a single line of code in the TWO MONTHS they have left to avoid ruining a gametype for tens of thousands of CTF fans?
