i just finished a spartan ops mission on “the cauldron base” and i got a little over 1000 xp.
i came in second place, but i only had 3 kills. i was the driver for a guass warthog and drove him around all over the place as he killed everything and i kept the hog alive.
i got something like 70 wheelman assists, but i only received 1000 xp instead of the usual 6000. why? why did that happen?
yeah. my main gunner had 66 kills with the guass turret.
i had 67 wheelman assists, 3 splatters, 2 assists and 1 wingman.
i’d sit in the car and position the gunner just right to mow everyone down and then move it back to cover the generators while we waited for more drops. sometimes i’d back away or escape when the elites where coming after us.
the other team mates both had 24 kills in comparison. both of them combined wouldn’t beat how well the gunner was doing thanks to my driving, yet the game flagged me as afk or something…
is that a flaw or does the game actively not want me to just drive people around? i mean, it helped a lot.
its the way the game is, you have to get a decent amount of kills to gain the high experience.
people where going into a game getting 3-6 kills and just sitting there doing nothing and got the high XP leaving other people to do the work for them so they where ranking up in no time at all by doing as little as possible.
if this no longer works then i think 343i caught onto what people where doing and patched it.
Thats not true. Ive done many many missions as a driver with only a handful of kills (less than 5) and have got 4-5k XP each time. If it really was dependent on # of kills, the AFK’er would not be getting to much XP and wouldnt be as big of an issue. The fact they do get plenty of XP is why they are being banned from earning XP for afk’ing in SO.
They’ve fixed the XP awarded in SpOps to stop people ruining the game by match making and just going AFK for the round, so you didn’t get much XP big whoop. By news year everyone will have max rank anyways its so easy. Just think of it this way your helping get towards your wheelman commendation.

I get about 4 or 5 splatters, normally 30+ wheelman awards and also killstreak medals from the team mate in the back on the gun. Im not doing anything other than driving and the occasional splatter, and as I said Im getting 4k+ XP each time.
Hell I had a game earlier where I only got 6 kills and nothing else and died alot because I was on the phone at the time and still got 4k+ XP.

Don’t worry. One time, I did last weeks Spartan Ops on Valhalla, and I got 250XP. After that match, I got my +5,000.
EDIT: When I was driving: I still managed to get 4,000 to +5,000XP. So it doesn’t really matter if you drive or not.
Kill credit needs to be devided 60/40 Gunner/Driver - simple as that, otherwise whats the point in getting in a vehicle and driving, its a death trap anyway.
