As the title says, use this thread to ask questions regarding the 3rd Community Writing Contest.
We are not allowed to feature known Spartans in our story, but are we allowed to feature antagonists from the established Canon? (Keepers of the one Freedom, Venezian insurection, etc.)

My brother wrote that not so good story with my account…My Brother sucks at stories so it may be hard to read.But first I will make it better.If he lets me do so that is.

Also, there’s no requirement to insert the profile information of the Spartan. Unfortunately I can’t consider it for the competition as he can’t be awarded the badge if he gets in the top three. However, I will provide some feedback.
So I used my characters from a Roleplay I am currently doing but for show don’t tell I was not sure what to do for that does that mean don’t tell the stuff in full detail also the reason I had so little word is because I told what the other two were doing but then re read and by then I had cut out some descriptors cutting down to 990 words then cut that and did some editing (its not the 807 words anymore just give or take a few)

Show don’t tell basically means to write through action, words, thoughts, senses, and feelings rather than through the author’s summary, exposition, and description.

they said we should not put two much detail I think I even forgot to describe mine… oops well just say colour and armour set and I think that would be good

It’s all about balance. Only put in what you need to put in. Remember, you only have 1,000 words to use, so don’t needlessly write about their family or background, unless it’s essential for the story. And by essential – it moves the story forward.
Those 1,000 words will be used up in no time. The best approach is to come up with a story that is focussed on a character or characters, and then reach a conclusion by the end. Although I’ve stated that you can end the story how you wish, cliffhangers tend to irritate, as they provide no sense of closure and you will be unable to conclude the story later on in the competition.

Be careful about using old material. A fresh approach works much better.
