Writ of Union Question

So I know that the Writ was writ when the Covenant first formed, thus is most strongly applies to the elites & prophets. I am wondering if it’s a staple of the other Covenant species too though (or was before the Covenant broke, rather)? I read that in one of the books an unggoy deacon had to memorize it, so I assume that they at least aren’t excluded from using it?

Most pressingly, I am wondering if the brutes would have used it as well. They are noted as rapid, zealous converts to the Covenant, but their rivalry with the elites might mean they would have shunned the Writ itself?

Pretty much answered your own question. I doubt the core species of the Covenant had the liberty of refusing to acknowledge the writ, just like they didn’t have the liberty to refuse to join the Covenant.

Mm, not quite what I meant. Of course they didn’t have a choice on joining and serving, but was the Writ considered ‘higher class’ and reserved for the elites and prophets? Or, I imagine brutes especially would have hated reciting what originated as a sangeheili pledge, but they were not lacking in devotion to the actual faith.

Sounds like it covers all, it may have started between the two, but when other races joined it became something that covers all the covenant.
