I never really see people utilizing either of these special units when I’m playing with/against Arbiter or Pavium. Even with shields, the Invaders are paperweights against almost anything in Terminus firefight over Wave 20. I know it’s not fair to compare units in Firefight with the core game, but to be truthful, I’m not willing to risk a loss over trying out a tactic that’ll blow up in 3 seconds. I’ve used Phantoms far more than the other, and from what I’ve seen, they really throw off that rock-paper-scissors formula when used with Enforcers, but I just don’t see how Invaders can push up with anything other than Pavium inside (which I the only reason I’ve used them).
Invaders are low key OP right now, just ask any of the best players. Phantoms used to be the best thing in the game, but with nearly every aspect that made them overpowered lessened the past few patches (heal rate, health, CoR damage, CoR stacking, CoR healing) I don’t know what their place is.
Transports will always be good when you can micro them well I think.

Sums it up perfectly. Phantoms’ support have gotten drastically reduced nowadays.
The problem with Wraith Invaders, for me, is that they’re so high on the power wheel that by that time I get them I’ve usually already moved on from my infantry and am building tanks/AA/Locusts and Engineers. But they’re a great counter when the other team is massing snipers/rangers early game and really effective against Kinsano and flame hogs (Last I checked, Kinsano isn’t great against vehicles). I generally only use them if my opponent is massing infantry and anti-infantry with anti infantry/vehicle inside and then roll in my Reavers and Tanks.
They have their place, but I can see how theyd be OP if they were available early game.
Used to use phantoms often for supporting ally armies or just a quick hit on an enemy base. With all the nerfs to Arbiter though, now pretty much either don’t make them, or use them purely for just dropping off troops. Then pick everyone back up and head to the next location.
I mostly used the phantoms for backdoor harassing and invaders for a hunter/ranger spread. It works sometimes, but for me, the biggest appeal of these units, including the mastodon, is it helps infantry units gain veterancy. Have you seen a tier 3 sniper’s damage against a hero? The sniper might as well be a hero at that point. Some players easily forget that.
