I am super excited for the return of the red-X marker! Also, if 343 listened to us about something like the red-X marker then I can not wait to see what else they have planned for this TU. What do you guys think
woke me up at 7:21am. YES!
I do hope that this TU would be good.
I’ve already explained why this isn’t good news.
Yes. The future looks bright for Halo!
After like half a year or however long its been now,
Out of HUNDREDS of problems Halo 4 has, maybe over 1000 problems even…
We get…
A red X back!!!

At least we’re getting something. This was something I was actually surprised about as I didn’t think 343 would be able to address this issue. Considering they did it gives me hope for many other things. I would think it’s a lot harder to introduce the death x into the UI than it would be to tweak weapons. I have hope for a better Halo. I’m not even saying Halo 4 is a bad game either. I seem to be the only person here impressed with 343.
People like to talk about Halo 3 out of nostalgia but I remember the rough times. Bungie took like 7 months to release a patch for what many considered the most broken Halo experience to date. 343 has already tweaked the game, messed with playlists, introduced forge maps, and dropped multiple map packs in the time it took Bungie to realize the BR was bad and the melee system was broke in Halo 3. I’m not saying Bungie was terrible. They were/are still a good company. I just think some people on here should lay off on all the attacks against 343. They are a much better company than people give them credit for and Halo 4 is a much better game than the community makes it out to be. If anyone is killing this game it’s the negative portion of the community. I wonder how many people decide not to buy this solid game because of some friend just rage’n on about how it’s terrible?
Regardless of how much anyone hates/disagrees with 343 or Halo 4 you have to admit that 343 is at least trying pretty hard to make everything better. It takes a special group of people to try and please the Halo community.
you know what’d be reeeal nice?
implementing a game option to control vehicle health by increments of 10%. so we could set warthogs anywhere from 50% - 300% in multiples of 10, for example. which would also allow them to give 'em a nice boost in btb and such, bringing back some of the vehicle epicness of old while not having them absolutely destroy everyone in other playlists.
i just hope the dmr isn’t made to be useless for the sake of the angry br lovers’ happiness. (no offense. it’s ability to take out a shield and get the head shot in one burst is pretty awesome. dmr can’t touch that.) make the dmr less useful in close range and slightly less useful in mid range? sure. absolutely.
red x’s will be a handy addition.
Why would you need a RED X to tell you where your teammates died? If you can’t see a teammates symbol and there basic location when playing and then notice it disappear when they die, I don’t see what a RED X is going to do for you. This just dumbs the game down even more. I hope this really isn’t something they are going to introduce into the entire war games list.
Sarius, are you new to Halo? The Red X has been in Halo Multiplayer since Halo 2.
Nope, played them all. Halo CE is my favorite. I just don’t notice the red x’s missing and don’t see the point of it. I mean it shows an x on your radar if you are close enough, and there symbol disappears on your screen. To me that is enough.
Remember peeps it doesn’t just end there. Bravo announced the addition of the sandbox/ weapons section in the war games section so remember that when it drops, post what you believe needs to be fixed or risk it not being put in. Same goes for any problems you have with war games playlist. This could be a final push for Halo so if you want it to succeed you need to tell them what Halo 4 NEEDS!!

Please, explain. How could this not be good news

Not sure if srs…
The red X can be helpful. It points out where your enemies are, and where to go if you want to get to the action. I think this is a good start for 343. Now, they just need to keep sorting through the pile of problems.
The biggest problem with Halo 4 is the lack of penalties for betrayals. The booting system was what made people extra-cautious for Reach. They should bring back betrayal booting, but smooth out some of the problems with Reach’s system to make the game more playable. As it is, players just spam explosives with no regard to the presence of their teammates, making it feel more like a blind shoot-'em-up than a Halo game. Betrayal booting must be the next addition.

You have a point about us getting at least something. That does give me a glimmer of hope for Halo’s future. You also have a point about how it seems like adding the red Xs back in should be harder than other things such as tweaking weapons or adding 1-50 ranks.
People don’t look back at Halo 3 and say it was better out of nostalgia. I think over all Halo Reach was slightly worse than Halo 4 mainly due to a lack of maps. I think its core game play was actually probably a little better, but it had virtually no maps which is ridiculous in any video game much less Halo.
But Halo CE, and particularly 2 and 3 since they had online multiplayers, are still the pillars of Halo. They set the standard, and since Halo 3 Halo has been in decline in popularity.
This is not opinion, there are objective reasons for why 2 and 3 are still the best Halo games.
For example, let’s use the Halo games’ ranking systems for people who enjoy competitive play.
CE: No online multiplayer so it isn’t relevant for this example
2: 1-50 ranking system enhanced by clans helping team ranked games
3: 1-50 ranking system
Reach: Arena ranking system which included like what 1 play list? And only held a population in the hundreds
4: NO RANKING SYSTEM
So there is one objective reason among many why Halo 2 and Halo 3 are still the best Halo games that is not subjective opinion resulting from nostalgia. It really bugs me when people assume that simply because they won’t take the time to ask the questions to find out why 2 and 3 are still the pillars of Halo.
Also, Halo 3 is still one of the most perfect at launch video games I have seen. The only real problem it had at launch was the toggle crouch option didn’t work, which Bungie admitted to being extremely embarrassing two or three months later.
Patches in Halo 3 were for things that were not really serious problems, but just tiny things most people didn’t even notice blown out of proportion by people who did know about them.
And don’t even try to say tweaking weapons in Halo 3 through patches counts as a problem because the weapons were all functionally balanced at launch, even if not the best balanced they could have been.
There was no boltshot type situation in Halo 3 when it launched.
As for 343 trying hard… I don’t see it really. Its hard to see it when they removed so much from Halo for seemingly no reason. If stuff was removed for a reason, they should tell us about it lol! Just put an announcement somewhere and say something like “Assault… that’s a fun game isn’t it? Like most games in Halo, we had fun playing Assault, but had to make choices on some major things to eliminate/ not get in for this reason… we’re really sorry we didn’t get it back in, but are working on it for an update coming in whenever/ Halo 5.”
I mean I don’t know the details, but it wouldn’t hurt 343 to simply say what the deal is at least somewhat, just enough to give us an idea so we have some faith in them. Going with my assault example, even if they said there is no way they can get it back into Halo 4 but are working to make sure its back in Halo 5 and mentioned why it didn’t make it into 4, I would be okay with that. I understand things can happen with a huge project like making a video game as big as Halo.

As nice as this is, there are much bigger issues that need to combated, for instance, the lack of options and gametypes in custom games & forge has left the creative community feeling left out whilst the lack of non-ordnance, non-loadout playlists with balanced maps and layouts have left the competitive community feeling left out.
Personally, the lack of the Red X never bothered me, it’s not hard to figure out where someone’s been killed if you keep communication running and you have a little awareness as to when your Team Mate’s icon disappears off the screen.
> Why would you need a RED X to tell you where your teammates died? Are you yoinking with us?
> Sarius, are you new to Halo? The Red X has been in Halo Multiplayer since Halo 2.
Yes he’s aware of that the point is that it’s not in Halo 4 but will be returning in the next update.
Not until the DMR get’s nerfed and other issues are fixed it doesn’t.
No yoinking going on here, lol. I just think this is trivial to waste time on putting in the game. It won’t have an impact like say actually having good maps to play on would or weapon tweaking.
