50 kills with an automatic weapon = 800xp (would have been 15 kills for 3000)
12.5X effort/xp
10 CQC medal = 1000xp (would have been 5000xp)
5X effort/xp
Spartan ops have got massively harder as well. 250 jackals for 8k instead of 100 grunts for 10k or something.
And 50 hunters for 10k instead of 50 elites for 20k or something.
And then theres the monthly. 5000 kills for the same xp that 30 wins got us last month…
Campaign challenges are a lot easier, but those are the ones I’d have happily seen harder (was using them as an excuse to do LASO anyway).
No complaints here, just an observation, although I’m not even going to bother with the automatic weapon challenge today, or the CTF weekly. Atleast the monthly will genuinely take all month this time.
Yeah some variety would be nice but I’m pleased that I’ll actually have to put some time in for the SpOps challenges this week. Give me motivation to get some commendations up rather than the usual 20 mins and done.

As someone else said, I see that this week challegnes pose a few themes:
Harder to obtain
Lower payoff
Tougher on SPOps Mmaking, unchanged/Easier on Campagin
This seems to signal a shift in challenge management: Campaign used to have a too high effort/reward ratio versus SPops challenges: why engage in one hour effort to get 20K when the combined spartan ops could be obtained in 40 mins for a 30K?
so in the past I guess everyone did SPOps challenge right away (easy 30K), then mMking challenges (good, depending on gametypes) and campaing last (too hard/time consuming/low reward).
This weeks seems the camapign poses a much more attractive effort/reward ratio, so they are more 2competitive".
The sad point is that the payoff from the challenges seems to have reduced a little bit. This is not a major problem personally, as I have been quite consistent on challenges in the past, but in the future I may be less focused on challenges and maybe I will grind on commendations/casual play instead…
what do you think?
The VAAAAAST majority of players I see in game are not 130 - perhaps because I do not get matched with them being only 66, but none the less. I see a 130 every few games at most. Every thread about levels has people saying “everyone is already 130, who cares?”. I’d be interested to see graph of active players by level…
343i were literally throwing XP at people with the incredibly easy to obtain challenges with SpOps and even War Games.
It’s nice to see challenges that actually live up to their name.
But I can agree that with heightened challenge, should come equally satisfying pay-outs.
> > I made it to 130 in less than a month after the game came out. About everybody is a 130 these days. Who cares what the challenges are worth…

> Believe it or not, but some of us have lives and don’t have all the time in the world. Even if we did, we’d make better use of it.
It’s not that hard, so don’t make it out to be. I became an SR130 while forging because I didn’t want to max out, I never had before as it gave me something to always aim for.
Also, insulting people because they play a video game more than you is not good. Seriously check your attitude and think before you post.
