wow overgrowth is terrible.

finally played on overgrowth and while it looks beautiful the weapon layout and power up locations are -Yoinking!- terrible. Who thought it was a good idea to put a shotgun and invisibility so close to each other?

The weapon/power up placement may need some tweaking, but the map itself is awesome. One of my favorites actually.

I made a map on my fileshare called overgrowth fixed where i madw the gun spawns and so on more fair just friend alpha chief 14 for the map

That map is the worst hands down.

Agreed! The map looks really good! but the weapons and power up placement needs a lot of work…A LOT!!! Not only are the shotgun and invis. super close, but the energy sword isn’t far away either… nor the railgun… pretty much half the map has everything and the other half has nothing.

I have honestly enjoyed playing this map. Maybe too many power weapons but the design is quite fun.

Shotty spanws next to camo lol Wonder who had that bright idea

I actually think it’s a pretty decent map.

But…why…?

Shotgun and Camo next to each other in one spot.
Sword on the other, and you can pretty much keep sprinting back and forth through the center just slicing everyone up without opposition.

Blue Team is generally the first one to reach all of the power weapons.

Not only do they spawn next to each other, they spawn exclusively on one side (Blue). At higher level play the Blue team just locks down their spawn and snowballs the other team. I can’t understand how it’s still in playlists when it’s twice as bad as Orion ever was.

Overgrowth is one of those maps I like but I can’t make an argument for why. A great look and alot of fun to play, despite obvious placement flaws.

I don’t find it bad at all. Then again that’s just me when it comes to HALO :video_game:

The map is so bad that many people decide to just go out of it mid game.

To be fair, Overgrowth is an asymmetrical map so weapon placement won’t be perfect unlike some maps such as truth or empire, where the map is perfectly symmetrical. Also it is a small map compared to most maps too, and it is more vertically built, so to spread power weapons out around the map evenly is hard to say the least. If it was tweaked a bit or some power weapons were taken out to change the balance that could help a bit.

The map is beyond terrible
when you combine narrow corridors with shotty and invis spawning completely next to each other with both sword and rail gun spawn locations 90% of the time blue team steam rolls the red team
its a horribly unbalanced map and infuriating to play on

Weapon placement is a big problem for many maps. Overgrowth is one good example.

One other has to be recurve. They had the bright idea of placing the sniper rifle at the most poweful spot in the map. Added there some grenades and the shotgun, so one team can hold this spot easely and just snipe players running around and crush them when they want to attack that location.

Such smart, so much wow!

I agree, I don’t like the forced corridor type game play, especially with a shotty, sword, and invis… which ever team has those weapons is most likely to be the team that wins… yes you can stop them but the map is basicaly just switching back and forth getting those 3 things to run the map.

Prisoner, Damnation and Hang em High are all asymmetrical maps that fostered Halo’s competitive scene.

It’'s pretty rough on that map. Railgun is a powerhouse on that map, so long as you stay in the areas with longer sightlines, and stay away from the sword / Shotgun side of the map. But yeah, I go negative on that map most of the time.

One of the worst maps of all time.
