Would you want longsword and seraph battles to return in Halo 4? And if so, would you like to see space battles in multiplayer?
I think it would be awesome if there was a space battle playlist where everyone spawned in longswords and seraphs and tried to shoot one another down. Or maybe have them as vehicles that you could jump in and out of, and hijack. And have a sort of jetpack that could give you full mobility while floating through space, you could take rockets out and use grenades and EMP the longswords and seraphs and attempt to hijack them and stuff. I think with space battles there could be a whole world of possibilities for both campaign and multiplayer.
Since playing the ship combat part of reach I’ve been wanting more. I think they should offer a firefight based ship level where more and more fighters just keep coming. I don’t know about player on player games but I would think a firefight ship level would be easy to do.
I also think what we saw in reach had to do with what bungie has planned for their next title. I think they snuck it into reach as a little test of sort, maybe see how well it was recepted.
I want a space combat like the one in The Package (Halo Legends). those vehicles were awesome.

I only want space combat to return if they do this:
-A full mission based on ship hopping.
-A space firefight mission, in which you may also leave your ship and float around.
-Dogfight in multiplayer.
-A forgeable space area.
That would make it worth it. If it was like in Reach, it’s fun, but it felt more like a gimmick than a solid add-on.

That sounds great! If they get space fights in MP it would be awesome! Althought I understand why Bungie didn’t include it because if it doesn’t feel right it’s better to leave it.
For me space fights make Halo even more sci-fi than it is! I can imagine dogfights with some guys fliying around, others maybe in some kind of defensive towers and a whole lot of fun! So if 343 can make it work I’m going to pre-order Halo 4 right now =)
I honestly don’t like any kind of space combat. This is not star wars, it’s halo. That is my opinion.

i personally like it, the control scheme has a few small similarities to ace combat.
and i don’t remember starwars having ballistics. don’t they have lasers?
I’m not imagining seraph and longsword battles.
I’m imagining almost nothing, expect forerunner on forerunner space battles.
Most boring part of Reach. Don’t need it.

Could you at least say “in my opinion” ?
Because for me and for a lot of other people this was easily the best sequence in Reach.

The best part in a FPS game was where you were flying around in a spaceship in 3rd-person view? Now that’s really sad.

I’m sure you can get what I mean…
This was the best “different” (not the usual FPS gameplay) sequence in the game…

Yeah, I can live with that.
But seriously, I’d rather see a Halo-based space shooter than just such a sequence in a FPS game. I’m a big fan of the genre since the first Wing Commander. Come to think of it, I’m actually a fan of it since the good old Elite. God, I’m old…
That was one the, if the not the best part about Halo: Reach. I’d love to do it again.

Yep. I agree. Not only was it fun, but it broke up the monotony that happens in most first person shooters. I love my Halo campaign, but keeping it all “run here shoot this, run there shoot that” really makes the campaign tedious. I’d love some more space combat. I don’t expect the vehicles to be the same though.

Absolutely, I think the main reason why some people didn’t like space combat in Reach was because it felt like a kind of firefight where you would just fight off waves of ships. And a space jetpack wouldn’t necessarily mean the return of AA’s, it could be an ability that would only work in space. And it’s fuel would be unlimited. It could work on a move where facing system where you use the right stick to look around, and if you press forward on the left stick it moves you forward wherever you’re looking, same goes for forward, bacward, and side-to-side. But you could only use that ability in space with zero-gravity, so that way we could still have low-G on planet surfaces and weak artificial gravity and stuff. If there is any gravity at all, this jetpack ability wouldn’t work.
I think it should be in Halo 4. I enjoyed it so much, everytime Anchor 9 was an option to pick I picked it. The space combat was one of the best things about it!
In campaign, sure, whatever. The controls for it in Reach were cumbersome though.
I’d rather it not be in multiplayer, because then it would be absolutely rampant.
If we have to have space play a part in things I’d much rather it’d be ship combat than low-grav infantry fighting. Worst idea ever. Almost.
I for one adored the Sabre mission in Reach, and it certainly left me wanting for more. Not just in space though, I would love a “Rouge Squadron” or “Jedi Starfighter”-esque Halo game, where you pilot Sabres, Longswords, Shortswords, Pelicans, Hornets, Hawks, Vultures, Wombats, Falcons, and more in missions both in space as well as in-atmosphere.
I’ve always wanted to take the role of a UNSC pilot, taking the fight to the Covenant (or whoever) on a variety of missions in a variety of craft. Pure bliss in my book!

Well, I enjoyed the space battle, but it was a bit like Star Wars BattleFront 2 space battles. No offence reach but I think you copied it a bit. In battlefront, get in a space ship, get inside, disable something, get out. In reach, get into a space ship, get inside, disable something, cutscene showing you getting out. Bit of a copy if you ask me.
