TSIA, would you want a Halo RPG, and when would you want it to take place in the currently known Halo universe?
Maybe the present Halo time, or before the firing of the Halo’s.
absolutely, and i do think that is the direction this franchise is headed. Halo will always remain an fps, but i definitely sense an rpg or first person mmo on the next gen console
as far as time frame i would want it near the time it is in now…there is just massive potential with the s-iv’s
I wouldn’t want it to take place in the current universe. Mass Effect is a great example of Sci-Fi RPG Shooter but the one thing that truly made Mass Effect great was character interaction. It has plenty of Alien characters who are different and interesting in their own way, each offering something unique to the table. If you set a Halo RPG in the present it would be hard to do because it would be all Human. That’s not to say Human characters are boring but I’d rather expand beyond Humanity and work with other cultures.
So I think Halo should pull a Star Trek. After this series ends, jump 100 or so years into the future and show us how the Galaxy has evolved in that time. Imagine a world like Mass Effect where you board a seedy backwater space station like Omega and you see Kig-Yar traders and pirates doing business with Jiralhanae and Human mercenaries. Unggoy work in various shops just trying to make a living while lower levels of the station have hives of Yanme’e flying around.
I’m sure you would play as a Spartan of the time, going on some Galaxy saving quest. Your team could consist of various team mates such as Human, Sangheili, or even the ones above like Jiralhanae, depending on the state of the Galaxy at the time. Although even Shepard had a Krogan on his team even though they were a broken species he often fought as mercenaries. It doesn’t have to be exactly like Mass Effect of course, I’m just using it as an example.
Why not during Human-Forerunner Wars?
At this point it makes little difference to me.
> Why not during Human-Forerunner Wars?
Too far back, and we will fail either way. That and it is at a critical moment in the history of halo’s story and rpg’s usually have choices and stuff. Choices during this moment would likely feel very limited.
@Nihilus Shadow
100 Years wouldn’t cut it. We’d have to go forward at least a thousand. The Brutes and Elites won’t be anywhere near friendly by then. Those feuds take centuries to heal.
This would be the greatest game ever to be made if it came true,
It would also offer more on the halo story background as to a more purpose into playing the game and making it more sociable and co-operative compared to that of the FPS it is now.
Cheers
I’ll be the first person in line to pick it up if it were to ever happen.
I think it would be awesome. Get this; so many years in the future (say 1000 or so) The Flood have taken over nearly all of Earth with only a handful of survivors. This is where you pick your character, a UNSC marine or a Covenant Sangheili. You can then go on your big quest to save the planet. But going through abandoned towns and cities, you find it infested with flood, insane UNSC survivors/Covenant, and traders wandering for place to place for you to trade. You can get a variety of weapons UNSC/Covenant weaponry, you can get different types of armor( only for your character though, so for example, a Sangheili couldn’t wear ODST armor) and you go around leveling up :)Maybe a few skill trees in there and a crafting system
I’d want a game on Sanghelios like one of those Samurai Warriors games. Time frame being before contact with the San 'Shyuum. You could chose your Sangheili and start a Dynasty on Sanghelios. Like you start with a basic training stick and can work your way up to a Curveblade and eventually a full fledged Energy Sword. Maybe ride around on a Doarmir mount like a war horse. I think it would be just epic to raid some evil Sangheili Kaidon’s keep where it’s you against 800, Fal 'Chavamee style, or garrison off your allies keep from an impending attack from another clan. You could chose your allies and make enemies and be on your quest to unify Sanghelios.
I dont know honestly, Imo It would be hard to make a RPG where we are playing as a military character, Spartan or otherwise…Its definitly plausable but idk how I would recieve such a game.
Time wise…It would be nice to give some game time to the Forerunners as they waged war with ancient humans and/or the Flood.
Maybe if it was done similar to Mass Effect but with an FPS perspective. It would be kind of cool to explore parts of the galaxy in a Halo game.
Halo 4 is already an RPG, fear my level 68 Grenadier class Spartan-IV!
I’m all for it.
If done right a Halo RPG could be amazing.
A halo rpg would be the best thing for halo
I actually really wouldn’t like Halo to become an RPG. I just don’t think it would work with the halo universe and style of gameplay.
I just want it to be some kind of open world experience, except with a really good storyline. Like Fallout 3, New Vegas, Skyrim or Far Cry 3 (amazing story IMO). Alternatively, Dragon Age Origins, or the Mass Effect series are a good example to follow.
it would be cool if they didn’t really involve the current story line but they came up with a new sort of story line and instead of being human vs covenant it should be red vs blue
