Would you remove power weapon locations from HUD?

One mechanic that I would like to see removed is the appearance of power weapons, overshield, and active camo on the HUD. For example, in Halo 5 if there is a rocket launcher on the map everyone can see it and knows how much time it takes to respawn. I thought that part of the strategy of playing some of the older Halos was to not know exactly when or where some weapons were going to spawn on the map. This led you to explore and find them yourself. The more you played the game the more you knew about weapon placement. I feel that showing everyone where weapons are lowers the skill gap and I think that veteran players should have an inherent advantage with knowledge of weapon locations. What do you guys think? Do you think they should remove this feature? Do you think it would be unfair without it?

Most definitely. Took way more skill back in the old days, timing active camo. Shooting explosives just right or throwing grenades to launch the sniper or rockets into your hands.

I feel like it should be an option in social and removed in competitive. The power ups on the HUD help newcomers get into the competitive side of the game quicker as it almost forces power weapon control for the lower skilled player base. Though the system is already redundant to the people who grind the same maps every day.

I agree completely. Still to have it as in option as the user above me mentioned would be nice. Keep off in ranked and perhaps social depending on the game mode.

It should definitely be removed, it waters down the competitive side of gameplay. I also think weapons should spawn on fixed time drop spawns in all gametypes.

Yes. I don’t know what it is with 343 and trying hold the players hand but I really don’t like seeing where the weapons are. I’d prefer to find stuff myself. Personally I’d also like it not to highlight weapons when you walk up to them

One of the best things for me going into MCC and playing maps I had never played before is not knowing anything about them

Not sure I buy the whole “it makes it less competitive” idea. Do markers for flags and goals make objective gametypes less competitive? If anything, all players knowing when and where power weapons spawn makes the game more competitive because no one has a preexisting advantage that comes from memorizing where powers weapons spawn. Not to mention weapon spawns can change with updates.

Yeah it should absolutely be removed. You should be able to actually learn where and when the power weapons will spawn through repetitive play. Being told exactly where the power weapons are and when they will spawn is absolutely unnecessary and only makes the power weapon control element of the game less competitive and less interesting.

The beacon could be removed, but the Weapon Pad could stay. It’s the only way we can make custom weapons like a Silenced Sniper or Needler Assault Rifle.

Jorge’s turret with enchida projectiles is majestic.

Yeah I kinda want to see it removed because I like learning a map and where weapons are but at the same time it’s not that big of a deal really so they could go either way

I’d like it removed too. Not just for the skill reason, but because right now there’s no incentive to leave the part of the map you’re “camping” until the power weapon shows up. If the waypoint feature were removed you’d have to leave your campsite and go check if you wanted that weapon.

Leave it in social play so players can memorize where spawns are but ranked should be hidden along with timers to add more competitiveness by turning spawns into a sort of king of the hill area

No, back in the days we had to, like you said, explore and find everything ourselves. Putting it up for everyone to see makes it more boring and too easy.

Back to the roots

I’ve spoken to people who like it and dislike it. Maybe to accommodate both sides, weapon timers could be in social but taken out if ranked. Though if we had to choose one or the other, I’d vote to remove it.
