I don’t want to see both Brutes AND Flood return. I’d personal rather neither to return. But seeing as the community wants them to return I guess it will happen (especially with Halo Follower constantly bringing it up) if one does return, keep it at 1.
The whole point of Halo 3 was to finish the fight. The war is over. Halo 4 and the reclaimer saga should be about a brand new fight. Not continuing the fight that was finished in Halo 3.
In Halo 3 you defeated the Covenant (the Brutes surrendered and went back to their homeworld where the Elites attacked them in hopes of genocide-ing them. The flood was destroyed). "Truth, The Covenant, the Flood, its finsihed" -Cortana, "Its finished"- Chief
If Brutes AND Flood both come back that completely defeats the purpose of Halo 3. It’s already enough that the Covenant came back in Halo 4. So as a community pick one race that you want to return, not both. Because thats too much and will make Halo 3’s story as if it never happened. We FINISHED the fight.
Also if Brutes do return, they should be their own faction seperate from Jul Madama’s Neo-Covenant. Brutes and Elites hate each other. Even when they were in the Original Covenant together because of rivalry. And the great schism in Halo 2 (Prophets replacing the Elites with Brutes, and ordering Brutes to kill ALL Elites in the Covenant) only made Brutes and Elites hate each other even more. As much as Jul Madama hates Humans, because he is an Elite, it is only natural he would hate Brutes even more. Brutes and Elites should not be allied post Halo 2.
So if you want Brutes to return, understand that they should be their own Neo-Covenant faction separate from the Elites Neo-Covenant faction. Or else the lore will be broken.
This poll is ridiculous…
I’d like to see both of them back in the game and I do not “pretend Halo 3 never happend”…It’s not like all brutes were killed and you cannot get rid of stuff like the flood entirely that easy!
Edit: why do people pay that halofollower guy so much attention?!
Flood, as they played such a massive part of the destruction of Humanity and the Forerunners in the past. They will never truely be gone and there are samples on every ring, and theres also the chance some might survive on the Ark, or whats left of it if it isn’t being repaired by sentinals etc.

If thats the case then Halo 3 never finished the fight. It wasn’t a conclusion then.
I’m cool with Halo 5 and the reclaimer saga starting a new fight, but it is anti lore to UN-finish a finished fight.

Do you really want the same story told again and again and again? This is a new trillogy. Like how star trek had “star trek the next generation”. It’s a new conflict. I don’t want to see everything return just to satisfy nostalgia or for gameplay. Halo 3’s lore happened, and it shouldn’t be un done without a good explination.
The whole marketing campaign of Halo 3 was “finish the fight”.
Halo 3 was to “finish the fight”. Not the war. The Covenant still remain scattered throughout the galaxy, the Brutes are still on their planet and aggressive, and the Flood are waiting for their next victims.
We finished the Battle of Earth, but the war for human supremacy is just getting started.

The war with the covenant is over. It’s been four years since the end of the war. Halo 4, 5, and 6 isn’t about continuing Halo 3’s finished war, but starting a new war. A war involving the Prometheans, perhaps a skirmish (not a full on war) with the neo-covenant, and perhaps a war with a new species.

these options are stupid and your poll is a loaded question geared more towards what you want. Its like the guy above me said the brutes aren’t dead and not all of the flood were eliminated.

Brutes are not all dead, but in no position to start another war. The brutes are on there home world after Halo 3 being mopped up by the Elites, and are falling into civil war. Read/Watch Halo: The Return to learn of their post Halo 3 status. With the brutes fighting amonst each other and being killed off by the Elites, they are in no position to attack mankind. The Flood could return, as a spore was seen on the Spirit of Fire. Sure. But I’d rather only one of the two return at most. Both returning would defeat the purpose of Halo 3’s ending. And it would be telling the same story again and again and again, neverending.
The Flood were never defeated. The force we faced were stumbling toddlers compared to the majesty of Silentium Flood. And those have been pretty much confirmed to return in the books. Maybe not in 5, but eventually.

No I mean you have your “facts” about the law wrong. Theres lots of Brutes still around. also the Neo-covernent as you call them isn’t a real thing. Covenant is a turm used to describe the majority of the aliens in halo. the covenant split in to a lot of smaller factions after halo 3. notable factions include, the Swords of Sanghilos, the Storm covenant and Lydus’s faction. the storm being the faction from halo 3.

What?! No. The storm covenant are NOT the covenant in Halo 3. Unless you made a typo meaning Halo 4?
The storm covenant (wich I call neo covenant, because in Halo 4 they are just called Covenant).
The storm Covenant are Elite lead. In Halo 3 NO Elties are in the Covenant. All Elites left the Covenant after Halo 2, ALL of them. Or else the Brutes would have killed them.
There is the Covenant Empire. The Covenant from Halo Wars - Halo 3. After Halo 3 the Covenant empire was destroyed. However some Elites that remain anti human decided to make a new faction wich is un named. People call this Jul’s Covenant, Storm Covenant, Neo Covenant. The games just call them Covenant.
But technically they are NOT covenant. They are different from the Covenant because no Elites were in the Covenant after Halo 2’s great schism. The prophets had the brutes kill all Elites, so ALL Elites left the Covenant.

Because Halo 1-3 was a war with Covenant (+brutes), Flood, Sentinels. And was a good story. By having another war in Halo 5 with Covenant (+brutes), Flood, ect would be retelling the same story. That story is already finished.
Halo 4-6 should try to tell a new story with new foes, rather than rehashing the same story. Especially since Halo 3 concluded it.
We should feel a sense of progress in lore and the universe post Halo 3 rather than all these concluded events becoming un-concluded.
Like in resident evil 6 for example. When you kill the final bosses first three forms or so, it feels awesome, but when the final boss keeps coming back again, and again, and again (the final bosses in resident evil 6 have like 10 forums and you have to fight them like 10 times) it gets tedious and negates the gravity of the situation.
“Oh, this guy(s) again…”

Are you dense?
Seriously, how many flood outbreaks have happened in the original trilogy alone?
Halo:CE - Installation 04.
Halo 2 - Threshold Gas Mine
And lets not forget the most significant, Installation 05, which happened way well before Halo 2.
Oh yeah and as you said, Halo Wars.
So how many other areas contain Flood that can lead to an outbreak?
As for the Brutes…
Sure, their political situation is -Yoink- and so is their overall military positions compared to everyone else.
However, that does not necessarily mean we shouldn’t see them again.
All this means is that the Brute factions are of no significant threat to the UNSC nor to the prominent Covenant factions.
