Would you prefer to see what 343 is doing with the story post-Infinite, or have a full, hard reboot?

  • I would prefer that 343 moves forwards with the universe after Infinite
  • I would prefer to see a full reboot starting with Halo 1 (or Reach, or before.)

There should be an option to reboot just the 343 made games. Rebooting 1 would be the worst thing possible.

There is an kngojng thread for the reboot topic and you both posted to it.
Dont make duplicates.

Rebooting the first games would be disastrous, reboot it around H4/H5 storywise or do more prequel games like Reach.
Also i do wanna see where they go with the story post infinite

I voted for reboot but the more I think about it, if they could just release like a Halo: 5 director’s cut fixing some of the more egregious issues, as well as a DLC for Infinite tying up some loose ends I think it’s probably fine. Idk. It’s just so messed up at this point though. I don’t think anyone understand wtf is going on post H4. Maybe future games instead of being AFTER Infinite should be like between 4-5, 5-Infinite. And bring in the Spirit of Fire to wrap the whole H:W storyline up/into the actual games. Also games pre-Halo 1 would be good. Like Contact Harvest time period and H:W1 time period.

I dont think 343s vision for Halo even comes close to what Bungie had and so a full reboot would make me feel better as they wouldn’t be tainting the greatness that was CE-3.

Halo 4 takes all the existing characters and makes them look and act way different. If a full reboot took place this wouldn’t be jarring. Currently it doesn’t feel natural thats one of the reasons why Halo 4 and 5s stories are so bad.

It actually would be tainting the greatness of CE-3 because then they would not be cannon. A reboot is not a reimagining of the original story it is a replacement.

Not really. It would be a similar universe with similar characters and circumstances but it would play out differently.

CE-3 are cannon for their universe and whatever the reboot is is cannon for its.

Kind of like how the Godzilla movies do it. There are different eras that are all cannon to the other movies in their era but not all the movies in othwr eras.

That is essentially what the silver timeline is from the Halo show and that failed badly.

LFM, with the greatest due respect, can we just let 343i finish a story? Just once?

I see the worry. I still think there is a better shot of it being less destructive to Halo to restart.

I guess they could do what Call of Duty did where the community can decide which lore they consider cannon.

Please no. That would go insanely poorly and destroy anything interesting about Halo for sure.

Infinite DLC is never happening, as Schreier broke the scoop. We’re gonna be getting new games on Unreal Engine, and this means Infinite is not getting any campaign content. People need to let this idea of campaign DLC go.

I’m ok with a stoppage of all content till someone who cares about the material takes over.

I feel you. But lets be real.
They won’t will they?
Next campaign wi he another soft reboot disguised as a sequel.
343 have fooled me twice they wont be getting a third.

@TRUe_REDEMPTI0N you are literally the obly person that brought up dlc or using infinites engine outsideof QT’s lamentationof what could have been. So…

I’d prefer they stick with the current story for upcoming games. A hard reboot would turn tons of fans off. I’ve seen some suggest they could retcon/reboot everything 343 has done, but I strongly dislike that. If they’re gonna reboot, as much as I would dislike if, reboot the entire thing, or none of it. They just need to have direction and focus with the upcoming games & commit to a singular vision, rather than overreacting with every installment.

I would love this if i thought 343 was capable of keeping true to what made Halo Halo. But as we can see with the story, characters, art style, and armors they can not.

Halo 4 and 5 really tainted Halo’s popularity and Infinite was the Halo 4 i wanted (in terms of gameplay and art style [for the most part, some armors don’t belong in Halo but thats another topic]) just a decade too late and plagued with technical issues and nothing challenging to earn.

Where is my H3 Recon or Hayabusa or H5 Helioskrill equivalent in Infinite?

I suppose I just have a hard time imagining that is what they’re planning? I mean originally Infinite was supposed to be their 10 year plan - so clearly there wasn’t a conclusion coming any time soon.

With things going as they have, I don’t necessarily think they are going to finish anything… but I also don’t really have much interest in this Endless-Atriox-Cortana’s dead timeline.

I mean, it’s one of two Halo timelines. You can always invest in the show.
