Halo 5 will have you playing as a new Spartan but with the different views people have on who should be a Spartan would you prefer to have you make the Spartan you play as or play as Locke who you may disagree with character wise
We don’t know what Locke can do. The only thing we know is that he is tracking MC.
I like Noble 6 more. He is more refined and the silent but deadly type, like the Master Chief
I’d rather play as Locke than a corpse…
I find Noble 6, the Rookie, and any other blank slate/ self-insert characters to be really boring. 343 are the storytellers, not the players, it’s up to them to create interesting characters. I’d much rather play as Locke.

the point of fps is to feel like your the charater

The point is to put you in the shoes of a character and thrust you into immersion.
The point of an RPG is to create your own character.
Although some games are fusing the two (Destiny, Borderlands). Games where the main character is a blank slate (Halo Reach, Halo ODST) don’t include the features to properly create your own characters, rather they expect you to make your own backstory. I prefer to see the storyteller give us fleshed out, well written, interesting characters rather than an empty suit of armour that we can imagine a backstory for.

it just comes down to opinon at the point, ive allways seen it as if you want to be in the shoes of a character then go 3rd person, perfect example gears of war, god of war
Noble six, he Is the closest thing to master chief, and he is a spartan 3. Nobody likes spartan 4s.

I like Spartans IV.
Your argument is invalid.

But that doesn’t make sense. You’re not in their shoes. They’re in their shoes. You can see them, standing there, in their shoes, and you aren’t them.
Anyway, yeah, Locke over a blank, shallowly-angsty slate. I remember a thread about bringing back old characters, and someone asked for Captain Keyes. I’m sure that blackened, charred, partially vaporised pile of necrotic flesh would have been a great boon to the story.
Locke. Though people may say Noble 6 because he’s more like Chief, I think having two characters that are so alike in the same game would be detrimental to the story. I feel Locke will be looked at as an opposing force that confronts the Chief and during his time after Chief he will change gradually as he comes to understand him. After a certain amount of time I can see him siding with Chief on whatever he may be after.

As someone else said, when it comes to 3rd person, you’re not really in their shoes, just an observer. First-person puts you into the mind of the character, we see what they see, hear what they hear etc.
Like I said, 343 are the storytellers, it’s literally part of their job to give us well-written, interesting characters and not just throw an empty suit of armour at us. It’s a bit lazy.
I really liked being able to play your own spartan in Reach, but for a main game where a character is meant to drive the story, having a character with…actual character is preferred.
Noble 6 worked fine for a side game.
Locke, because Noble 6 isn’t much an interesting character and is dead to boot.
They should’ve added more content to 6… still I’d rather have 6 than locke
Locke is ONI. I don’t trust ONI. I don’t like the idea of playing as ONI.
Much rather have the Spartan…except that he’s dead. Wouldn’t mind playing as Palmer instead, or get back in the boots of Fireteam Crimson.
Give me Locke any day of the week, a much more interesting character and his acting in Nightfall is really stepping up, can’t wait to see more of him.
Noble 6? Not sure how you can feel like that character when you have no control over his responses to events in the campaign (cut-scene wise) that and there is nothing interesting about his character, might as-well be a blank slate.
That and he’s dead.
The decision was made at the endo of Halo Reach, Six is dead, end of story.
I prefer Noble 6 but i prefer locke as a charecter to interact with because he talk, now if you said Jun (assuming he’s still alive, i dont think he is) or Emile (i know hes dead but just if he was alive) then id defo choose one of those over Locke…
