Would you prefer fighting Forerunners or Precursors?

I, personally, would like to do something like the original trilogy:
Fight the Forerunners for a few missions, then realize what you’re doing wrong. Something [main plot event] is happening and you need an alliance to stop it. Then you fight the Precursors.

What do you want to fight, and why?

Don’t care as long as they’re fun to fight.

In terms of level design and from what we barely know about the game,

I could easily imagine John landing on this Forerunner planet and encountering sentinel beings like what we saw in Halo 3. First instinct and common ground for a Spartan would be to proceed with caution and yes, it probably will end up with coming into combat with them much like what happened in Ghosts of Onyx. However, if Forerunners still exists on this planet, and there is a considerably large amount, I would not want John and Cortana to target them as enemies. From what we know they would seem to fit into allies more than enemies but yes a realisation of this is entirely possible.

Precursors are more of a predicted enemy at this stage, but again we do not know if they even still exist, there is more chance the flood would take this place theoretically but for the sake of ‘new game’ new “Ancient Enemy” I would presume Precursors next.

The only part that worries me on both of these species is how they will be presented in relation to the Covenant. The Covenant was a massive force which offered a variety of enemies, producing different tactics, difficulties and masses. I really don’t want them to start mass producing a species that as far as we know are extinct just to replace the familiarity of the Covenant and the way we have been fighting before.

From a story perspective definitely the Precursors, but realistically they would kick our a**es right back to our mothers’ uterus.

I can’t believe I just wrote that :stuck_out_tongue:

LOL This made my day.

I don’t think we’ll fight Forerunners unless they are having a war between each other and we join one side. I think we will fight Precursors, but not directly. They are too strong to fight them in regular missions. I think we’ll fight them in boss battles or something like that. The only way I see fighting Precursors in regular missions would be if there are missions where we are a Forerunner character (like Halo 2 campaign). Now, I think we’ll either fight the Covenant and the Flood again, and hopefully… Something new

Upload a halo video dude!!!

Rumour suggests that the ‘enemy’ hinted at at the end of the Halofest trailer was the Didact’s War Sphinx. Much as I like the Didact and (spoilers for Cryptum and Primordium) his new self in Bornstellar, considering the human-Forerunner past it seems entirely possible that we will do battle with the Forerunners. I’m not sure, however, how that would feel from an emotional stance, given that Forerunners, prior to Cryptum, always seemed to be on the benevolent side of apathetic. I assume, if this is the path 343 takes, the game will provide motivation during the first level or two, i.e. Forerunners attacking John/UNSC forces. I don’t imagine an enormous speech from the Didact on a screen will be the road to go, though. Maybe something a la Jenkins in CE?

Halo 2 style, if you know what I mean.

How do u know its a war sphinx? It could more possibly be a precursor. Now my idea is the precursors take the humans as allys as long with elites the librarians army. While the enemy could be out of control flood because someone reversed the stasis thing, and the the didacts army but in halo 6 there epicly losing so they join our side.

I would want to fight Precursors, I think.

And maybe have Arbiter-styled levels where you play as a Forerunner, thousands of years before thee vents of Halo 4, yet centered around events that impact Master Chief’s story.

Some Forerunners and all Precursors. Some Forerunners should still hate us for the human/forerunner/flood war 100,000 years ago, while others recognize us as the Reclaimers and aid us in whatever we are going to be doing on their shield world.

Precursors would just send us to a random point in space and leave us there…

Make them the main villain then, like Truth was, while they throw an army of creatures at us (Precursors created and destroed races for fun, so the possibilities in terms of enemy creatures is endless).

I want to ally with the forerunners and fight the precursors

> I want to ally with the forerunners and fight the precursors

I would love this. It’s smart if implemented.

I would most certainly love to fight new variants of sentinels. I’d like to see the Aggressor class return with its minor and major divisions, but with a few new ones as well. I think we might encounter native creatures as well. After all, Forerunners placed a number of species on each shield world. Maybe there will be creatures like the Gueta or Moa on Reach. You’ll never know. And hopefully Huragok will make another appearance. These are all possibilities of what we might find in Halo 4.

I agree. The only Spartan that could go one on 3 or more Precursors is Jorge, and he’s, well, dead. Master Chief could take one on one

Both, because it’ll be a lot more crazy IMO.

This. And why is everyone saying Precursors? It would be Precursor.
