Is the gameplay really all that? Or are people playing for the challenges mostly?
Aside from custom games being broken I don’t really see a point to play this game.
You can’t spawn infinite equipment.
No custom games browser
There isn’t anything to learn in the gameplay since it’s already been done in other shooters before. It’s not like there isn’t new gameplay to learn.
And theres only alone ranked playlist and not everyone likes arena so there is barely a reason to rank up.
So I ask. Would you play this game without challenges and the progression system? Would you play if it had no items to play for like what you get with the ultimate challenges? Is the game by itself fun?
This game really does lack a lot of content. I set a personal goal to reach onyx. Thats really all i got right now. And im pretty close to it. Almost glad theyre resetting the ranks so i can chase it again because if i had onyx right now, im not sure what would motivate me to play.
Absolutely, I’ll never play something I don’t want to play for no reason.
Admittedly sometimes challenges gives you extra incentive to log in or play in a certain way. I used to log in daily or weekly, can’t remember to do my Fortnite challenges.
Just got to 100, while I started off without much concern for the progression system of the BP, it became a habit to finish it.
I’m personally enjoying the freedom from the challenge system as weeklies aren’t a focus of mine. It does show a need for more variety, some issues with the spawn system are also far more apparent when I’m focusing on gameplay, but I’m still having fun with it.
I haven’t played multiplayer in 4 days after burning out on connection problems, desynchs, and repetitious maps. I’ve already completed the battle pass and achievements so there’s currently nothing that makes me want to play. Plus for the third day running my challenges list refuses to load so I can’t even check what’s on offer.
Yes, because I do play the game and right now, for me, there is no progression, and most weekly rewards are not worth suffering through challenges I don’t want to do.
Yes.
I play for fun, because I like it. Sure, there are bugs, but most weren’t game-breaking for me.
I like most game modes, so I don’t mind doing the challenges mostly, usually, I do because it gives me an additional challenge, but if I don’t like what they require I just don’t. Most rewards are meh either way, I have background and stickers I use constantly and don’t plan on changing them. I don’t use any challenge rewards except for a visor from Tenrai I think.
Progression in the battle pass and additional cosmetics is a nice bonus. I did buy premium, plan on buying premium for next season.
It would be nice if there was a system counting our total exp overall outside of the battle pass even after finishing it, showing out badges and stats, but that’s just for own curiosity and satisfaction.
i am playing it despite the challenges (better word would be working tasks) or progression system, beside ranked, which i’m not very good at. but i’m thinking of leaving again more often, bc of lacking content and really awful campaign.
if people play a game only because of these “challenges”/tasks they are not playing bc of fun, they are playing bc they are psychologically being manipulated to fill up random bars (challenges) and increase the statistic of time spent with the game (which in turn raises the likelihood of spending money in MTs)… sadly many games do this nowadays and people keep falling for it.
Very similar to what I did. I set a goal to hit onyx and max the BP. Finished and have slowly playing less and less.
The real question is how can you enjoy a game that lacks this much content. And remember this is a AAA game and its Xbox’s biggest franchise. Cant give them slack for doing this to us.
The game will continue to fail until content is added, and desync is fixed.
In the current state?
No.
If it had other modes (Infectioooon)?
Yes.
But while we’re on the topic, what progression are you referring to? The BP can’t barely be called progression since you’re limited on how fast you can progress
I still have some fun with it for sure, but the problems are getting to me. But it’ll never be a play every night game. I’m not in high school or college anymore where I have minimum 6+ hours of free time per day, and there’s 102038229 more games now days as well and I like basically every genre.
I probably play 3-5 nights per week as of now compared to 6-7 at launch. Battle pass done, but that’s not really motivating for me anyway, so a progression system wouldn’t do it either. Challenges forcing me to play crap I don’t want to suck. I’m onyx but ranked is flawed anyway. Already knew I was about top 2% anyway, you can just tell if you put in the matches and you are consistently the top guy on your team and the whole game a lot. It’s halo after all, not that different from the others, no matter what some of you guys claim.
As long as my friends stay, I’ll stay. That’s my defining factor, if they left like they left in h5 - then f that, I’m out. Solo gaming in a team based game sucks. Can make new friends of course but so many meh people out there. I’ll pass.
I like the cosmetics, so I try to level up my battle pass so I can get that FCI/I Airwolf Attachment along with the Trailblazer helmet. But the game itself is fun for me.
So, yes if there wasn’t a challenge system I would still play. If they added more modes like Infection then even better
While I’m far from completing the battle pass, it would feel odd when it’s done and there’s nothing to play for (as it were). Unfortunately, you can’t even see your medals totals accumulating like in past Halo games.
