Would you play in an Infinite beer league?

Title pretty much says it. Would you pay to play in a Halo Infinite beer league? (A beer league is a “competitive” league played pretty much just for fun and bragging rights) If someone were to organize an actual amateurs online league and have weekly matches with playoffs and a championship etc do you think it would be successful? Why, why not?

No, seeing as how Halo is rated T and most of the adult population moved on to bigger and better things years ago. It would definitely be humorous to see a cool group of Halo badbutts crushing some Twitch streamer pre-workout.

I’m not sure about moved on lol. Plenty of older players like me still play the game and still do “bigger and better things”.

“Infinite Beer League” is a very misleading title

I know. I never clicked a thread so fast and got so confused.

does the T rating really have that much of a big effect on who’s going to be playing the game? lol.

According to 343, yes.

In theory yes, in practice probably not.

Playing a lot of 5-a-side football, it is so hard to organise a regular bunch of people every week. We had about 30 players in total, with some keen regulars and every week we would have anywhere between 8-16 people who would attend. 8 a-side on a 5v5 pitch is not ideal, but if we had less regular players to invite half the time we wouldn’t have been able to fulfill our pitch duties as the same 10 people rarely showed up and some weeks despite having 30 on and off players, we could only get 8 or 9 people there. Especially with people flaking last minute or turning up late. Couple of instances and they don’t get invited again.

It’s a lot easier when you have a close group that are equally dedicated. There are leagues organised by companies to join, but even then you always, always need fill players as backup and there’s a good amount of time the other teams are a no show, wasting everyone’s time.

I think if you had a standby pool and could organise some random teams for those with no shows, that would be great. Then if the players gel well together maybe they’ll want to team after. I would happily join something like this as a filler player who joins teams that don’t have the full amount of players if I am available at the time. This could work great, just need to find the right people who love Halo and are respectful of other people’s time.

Thats a good point. I usually play beer league hockey and you would have occasional issues with the player count. If you squad ten players, getting 4 for an hour or less a week shouldn’t be too bad. A spare player pool like you said would be good too! Since this would be a “pay to maybe win a cheap trophy” type thing, people might be more apt to show up or sign on. I think it would add a new depth to multiplayer that isn’t just “I hope we win this match” and on to the next one.

Lol no doubt. I was worried there for a second, thinking I was the only adult left!

I mean sure that might convince some parents to buy it for their kid but it certainly doesn’t preclude adults from playing it.

You know, unless you feel emasculated

I’d play, I’m not that good tho

I play with a group of about 8-10 guys and our average age is over 40! I think most people left playing Halo 5 right now are older halo fans.

As long as I’m allowed Rum cause Beer & I don’t mix

Lol I thought I was old for playing in my 30’s… what time are you all usually online?

no beer involved… my disappointment is immeasurable, and my day is ruined.

My Tuesday night group has similar numbers… and we range from 16 to 52.

I’m too scared to work out the average because it is definitely skewed to the right.

Never too old to tea-bag…

PS. Yes. I think some sort of semi-official league would be great. Or least have the game facilitate people setting up their own. Sadly I’m geographically a bit isolated so I would struggle with servers / time-zones.

But you’re in your home playing. Drink away!

According to this poll over half of the people who are active on waypoint are still adults. I’m not denying that a lot of fans have left the franchise but there are definitely enough people for something like this to be doable. Plus even everyone who was a teenager when Halo 5 came out are now technically adults, which is a bit crazy to think about :exploding_head:
