Would you play a non-combat-focused Halo game?

In an article I read online, Frank O’ Conner mentions how he can imagine a Halo game that isn’t combat-oriented.

“You asked me what I’d be excited about in the future, and certainly in terms of interactivity, I think games or methods of gameplay that aren’t simply shooting interest me,” says O’Connor. “I’d love to go do a xenoarcheological expedition to the original Halo ring. You know, take some scientists down, drive around, catch samples, do some detective work, maybe there’s a mystery. And it wouldn’t require shooting. It’s the universe and environment that can still be exciting, even without action. So that’s one of the things I’d love to see us invest more in.”

And this made me wonder, how many of you would want / be willing to play a non-combat-focused Halo game? Is the majority of Halo’s fanbase in it just for the shooter aspect, or for the story, narrative, and universe? I can imagine that only the smaller amount of people who would buy the game is the only limitation keeping 343 from pursuing this aspect.

So I do what? Go and make friends and get my virtual hands dirty learning about a digital world?

I’m more primitive and need to wreck things

The scientist expedition thing was a single example, nothing more. It could be anything from a simulation game, to a TellTale Games style adventure game.
