I know it’s “Late in the game” for remakes, but it’s still possible for us to see this in any rotation.
What maps would you like to see a remake of previous Halo maps in Halo 5? Besides the obvious Truth/Midship and the couple within BTB, do you think we could ever see a rotation in Arena/Slayer/HCS?
NOTE: I would like to exclude BTB, as 343i has already took the initiative to add Forge-style maps in BTB, whereupon Slayer, Arena and HCS, they declined to do so.
This being said, it could be a direct ‘Remake’ or even just a 343i Forge variation of the map, similar to how REACH had recreated some classics. I, personally, think Forge would be the way to go, as it would take less time AND we have a giant sandbox to play with.
Personally, in HCS, I’d like to see a variation of Construct or The Pit make a return for the upcoming summer and fall seasons. Maybe even Sanctuary; I know of $8s streams where people (I actually believe it was Pro $8s lol) actually played on a Sanctuary remake that they favored above the rest.
In Slayer/Arena, i personally would love to see Colossus, Foundation, and even Narrows (Which, yes, would work wonderful in HCS as well).
How about you? Any Halo CE, Halo 2, Halo 3, REACH maps you would like to see?
I’m more than a little surprised that there are next to no forge maps (re-make or otherwise) in the arena. And, as you pointed out, if you’ve taken any time to rifle through customs then you know there are some good 4v4 maps out there (again, re-makes and otherwise). C’mon, 343. Put some of that hard work into rotation.
My preference would be for a new version of Orbital. I’ve tried that project myself and failed, and I haven’t seen anyone else tackle it, but I still think it would be a worthy addition.
Yes, exactly my point. And the pro scene/competitive scene has been crying out for over a year now for some good Forge maps to just be thrown into the rotation. I honestly would rather see some sweet forge remakes of older maps and give the Community some credit on it. I mean, imagine being the creator of a map in Forge and they decided to use yours (which was favored by the competitive community) for HCS/MLG?
Orbital would be an amazing idea for a remake. Imagine if they added a back-wash style map onto Halo 5, and gave it the full ‘Halo 5’ treatment? That would be pretty awesome.
I want to see torque and tyrant put in HCS rotation… But as far as old maps remastered I want to see waterworks remake but since you aren’t talking BTB… As far as 4v4 maps. Lockout and Zanibar come to mind but they are in MCC so maybe bring them over. But I was also always a fan of Colossus and elongation.
I’d love to see spire, but the problem is that it wouldn’t be large enough to support 8 players. At maximum it supported Invasion, the “father” of Warzone. If 343 expanded it so it not only supported 8 players, but also sprint and 24 players. Back in the Reach days, sprint was limited, but now in Halo 5, it 's basically infinite. The maps supported armor abilities and players being able to choose theirspawns in order to get a weapon they wanted. The terrain is steep, so if the map was stretched so more AI’s wouldn’t be broken and funnel to one area, and they’d spread out more. But yes, I’d really want Spire to be added to Warzone, even if it was only in**spired by it.

Orbital, it’s on the tip of my tongue. What game is that from again. Reach, wasn’t it the DLC?
Absolutely…
Not. If 343 remakes a map, they won’t build assets for it from the ground up. They’ll make it in forge, and it’ll be like all the other BTB maps. They all look like plastic forts for plastic soldiers that a 5 year old would play with.
I asked ske7ch about Forge maps not being in HCS and I don’t remember exactly, but it was either there weren’t any viable maps submitted or no one submitted anything. It was one of those things.
I’ll just stick to H2 maps. Ascension for FFA, Burial Mounds/Zanzibar for a 1 flag/assault gametype, Backwash for Infection and maybe Turf for Slayer. I’d say Sanctuary, but I’m kind of tired of that map.

Torque and Tyrant are TERRIBLE played competitively in HCS. They usually are inconsistent and have too many ‘objects’ pushed into the way (for torques case) that makes it far too ‘chaotic’ to make it a possible good gametype; be it on Strongholds, CTF or Slayer. Oddball, was by far, the worst thing I have ever played on Torque. I don’t even think that map should exist, to be honest lol. As for Tyrant, it’s too poorly designed. The ‘layout’ scheme isn’t bad, just the map isn’t designed properly for a Halo-esq map with a 4v4 competitive feel. It works ‘fine’ in doubles (not entirely, as I feel it’s even too campy in doubles). Granted, my opinion is bias, as I am a giant advocate of every single pro and amateur competitive player, but even playing these maps I feel the exact same thing. I don’t think I have ever played a match in HCS where I thought “Yay, torque” lol. In Arena, I can understand it (being it has normal radar and automatics), as I felt it was built more toward non-competitive play, just the maps do not mesh well with HCS settings and competitive play in itself.
As for your map opinions, that’s certainly all great ideas. Elongation would work well in a Halo 5 setting with all the abilities.

Well that is YOUR opinion. I think they are great maps… Better than Coliseum or the Rig. If they are supposed to be “pros” they should be able to play any map. Not the same select few. They need way more maps in HCS rotation. Having so few makes HCS repetitive and that Halo has very few maps to offer.
I would like to say ‘sure!’ to Warzone ideas, because it is a thread designed to just spark some cool ideas!
But the reason I personally left it out due to the other playlists needing major updating and overhaul. It’s going on three years, and I feel like am already worn out of these particular maps. I would personally like to see some older faces come back to Halo during these kinds of ‘Free weeks’ and load up into a game where they know and are familiar with the map, other than Midship lol.
Likewise, it’ll give a nice refresher to those who have played from the beginning, AND it’ll be a nice ‘leadway’ into where 343i wants to go with this series – They stated numerous of times they would like to go back to the roots. What’s more ‘roots’ than taking a breath from the past and paying respects to the original titles? Likewise, for my own personal pleasure, I wouldn’t mind seeing some old respins into HCS!
But yes, by all means, if you have some awesome idea to turn Coagulation into a Warzone map, detail it and let’s see if we can get some 343i employees picking some ideas from this.

I’m sure a mod will flag this post if attempting to argue/debate points. So I’ll leave it at “To be extremely fair, this view is shared by not only every pro and am player, but nearly anyone who has played these maps. Period.”, as I don’t think I have ran into anyone who has particularly enjoyed these maps randomly in matchmaking or even on Twitch.
I’d like to also note personally looking at your past games, you appear to have only played a few games of HCS in this past month or two since ranks reset. The rest being Super Fiesta, etc. I agree, socially these maps are not bad. Competitively, it can get out snowbally fast just due to the disadvantages of each map. I’m not trying to be that person, but without playing it often, I don’t see how someone can judge something lol. (These maps were in rotation in December in HCS, with a ton of negative feedback all over lol)
As for the HCS rotation; I agree! It needs to be changed up. Adding ‘more’ isn’t an option (As they are already nearly at a limit of gametypes/variations), but certainly rotating the maps out for new ones is an option. The issue that everyone has is that the ‘new ones’ presented are, essentially, tech demos designed to show off what the spartan abilities can do instead of play the game. Which is why/how this thread idea came up – A better idea would be to find someone who can do amazing forge remakes of the old-style maps, and try to get this person to create Halo 5’s versions of Onslaught lol.

I don’t think it should really be about what they like. They are “Pros”… they should have to play a variety of maps. Not just the ones they happen to like. Not to mention torque and tyrant look great. Way better then the maps they use. If I were a novice to Halo and was like let me check out a HCS event and saw them playing the same maps over and over again I would be like is that all the maps they have? Hopefully they will eventually add more.

It was Halo 3 DLC. There were a lot of good maps in that game although oddly enough I never loved the gameplay formula all that much. Go figure.
