Would you like Halo 4's Firefight to have this?

So while I was playing Firefight in Reach today, I didn’t get the sense of Survival. I wanted to feel like I was struggling to survive, and barely hanging on… ODST did this great, but I think we can expand on this, so here’s where my idea comes to play…

Everyone starts off in a Pelican, with the back door open. Then, all of the sudden you get shot by a Covie (Or whoever the enemy is in Halo 4) Anti-Air gun. Your pelican then crashes onto the ground, you then proceed to get up with your teammates. Everyone has red health, and all you start with is a pistol. You are now stranded behind enemy lines, next to your burning pelican.

What do you think? I think it would be a great addition for Halo 4’s Firefight. It would actually give me the sense is “Im outnumbered, and i need to survive” Instead of Jet packing and shooting your fuel rod gun.

Thoughts?

Well maybe you can then start by a flaming pelican?
And this could just be on one map. not all of the maps have to have this intro.

I think this Idea is cooler. Maybe firefight could be like -Yoink!- zombies where instear of one area, there are many that you unlock. And then enemy drop ships and drop pods fall in in random locations

I think firefight needs a few things.

First of all I think that the boss waves need to be more of a challenge. Scarabs would be pretty epic! Maybe they can bring back the small scarabs from halo wars into the fight as well…I think they were called Locusts? maybe one boss wave could be three of those, and the next could be one scarab with a bunch of elites on it.

Besides beefier bosses, firefight in my opinion needs a better end goal that you are trying to achieve. Maybe you need to hold off 40 waves, rounds, or whatever the level structure may be, to wait for an orbital mac cannon to charge up, and after the 40th wave it cuts to a cool cutscene of a platoon of covenant getting blasted from above! Or maybe you need to hold off for extraction, or protect a civilian asset. Just something besides fighting wave after wave for no apparent reason.

Another idea that I like is the one that was mentioned earlier about being able to call in reinforcements such as ODST’s or a pelican with marines. I like the idea of only being able to call them in so often. Maybe they can adapt a concept like gow3 where you earn money/credits/whatever currency they want, and you can go to a command post, or radio station and call in reinforcements from a list. Here are my ideas of what could be on the list.

-ammo/gun drop (standard guns at first, but for more money you get power weapons)

-mongoose drop (maybe drop two or three mongeese with some marines that have rocket launchers)

-warthog (with marine passenger and gunner)

-rocket hog (" ")

-gauss hog (" ")

-marine reinforcements (random assortment of basic weapons and maybe a few power weapons)

-scorpion tank (with gunner and passengers with rocket launchers)

-ODST’s (fully loaded with power weapons)

-air strike (maybe a group of falcons or whatever new flyer they put in halo 4)

-Mac Cannon strike (super high cost so that it can only be used a once or twice per game)

Those are just a few ideas… I’ll add more if I think of anything else. Let me know what you guys think

I think this is a great idea! I hope they make it as dark as they did ODST honestly! But yeah i like the intro i could imagine it. looking over to your buddies then all of a sudden WHAM! you and your teammates fall out! Amazing idea!

Just increase the scale of firefight, and try to stop the sense of repetitiveness that appears in reach’s multiplayer.

Having ODST and marines is a good idea and i am very much in favour of it.

Also, having more vehicles is also a good idea and maybe vary it a bit more, with more areas to “unlock”(CoD style) and more varied and refreshing boss battles. (Scarabs, waves of ghosts/wraiths etc…

Also, need it be against the Covenant? A smaller scale flood one perhaps or the "new enemmy (be it Didact’s forces, forerunners, previous humans or precursors)

I think FF needs to be turned into a surviving mode and not again as a cR farming and trigger smashing mode.

I like the idea of intro’s… every map have their unique intro?.. and what about a remake of chasm ten? that was my favorite firefight map, ever! and more close quarters maps, would help, and no power weapons for firefight matchmaking. and instead of a wave limit, it should be like 10 deaths, to lose, and surviving for 10 - 20 minutes to win.

I think firefight should be more l like theliaison lonewolf mission.

Great Ideas! I really would want the Scarab to be in firefight (like you mentioned) It would give you the sense that your in a huge battle

I can see where buying weapons has its disadvantages. Maybe instead of the money system, it could be a reward system.
Say get 100 kills and a warthog gets dropped in.
Kill 50 elites, get the air strike
Kill 10 Wraiths, get the Scorpian
Get a 200 killstreak and get the mac blast

just some other ideas, let me know what you think feel free to add more. I love hearing new ideas. I would really like to have halo 4’s firefight be more playable than what we have now. Currently firfight is too repetitive and has no real “oh S**t” moment. Honestly I am sure that 343 already has there own plans so really anything we say is probably just a pipe dream but it doesn’t hurt to have fun!

Personally I wouldn’t want this. I play Firefight for mindless fun, I just want to jump in and get straight into the action of it all.

Well there could be 2 playlist-

Firefight Arcade
Firefight Survival

In all honesty though, most people like the “Survival” mode more (purely from speculation) And that’s what Firefight was actually designed for.

Nah, intro’s like that don’t really go with multiplayer. Lets just start next to a Pelican like the first guy suggested.

Yeah, Im starting to agree with this. But what about in Custom games?

i have multiple startings

-start in a hurtling drop pod

-start off in burning skyscraper. 1/4 of the way through it collapses as you fight around the debris

-a whole map on a space station hurtling towards a planet. at the end it crashes in a fiery inferno
