Would you like fall damage?

Would you like to see fall damage make a return.

I personally would prefer to see it done away with.

Well, what do “y’all” think?

no, this is one of the main reasons why i loved halo 2 and 3. you felt like you were invincible. plus it allowed you to do more on maps, you didn’t have to worry about losing a percentage of your shields. some say that makes it easier to run away without any repercussions, but i disagree.

I would rather not see it come back.

The only reason fall damage was introduced was jetpack. While I’d love to see fall damage disappear, I don’t see it happening when jetpack is returning.

I think fall damage should only happen if you fall from an extremely high height, if it is in the game at all of coarse.

PS: Not that much of a fan of fall damage.

No in normal gametypes.

Allow us to toggle in custom gametypes.

Please, no. It would make the forge a little bit easier and the overall gameplay.

As long as there is a jetpack, there needs to be fall damage in my honest opinion. Since jetpack is confirmed, I sincerely hope there is fall damage in the multiplayer. It’s gonna be rediculous if it isn’t- no repurcussions to flying as high as one can. Even the annoying Reach jetpackers don’t do that because it’s too risky. It’s fine to keep it out of Campaign, as MC has not been affected by fall damage previously. I hated watching enemies leap out of Banshees in H3 and safely fall to the ground, it infuriated me.

I see lots of posts above and below mine that just say “no” and have no supporting evidence as to why it should be eradicated. In fact, I think ALL of the posts so far can be summarized with “no” or “no thank you.” Have you all died so much from fall damage that you’re scarred? I think I’ve been killed with it like ten times, if that…

Therefore I ask: why the strong hatred towards fall damage?

I’d only like to see it return if the gameplay was similar to CE, but from what we’ve seen it isn’t. So the gameplay would probably be better without it.

yes it would make sense for it to return

No thank you .

No, absolutely not. Just no. Please, no.

Here’s something to further my argument–> http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=31g0YE61PLQ

And here’s to hoping the jetpack is more of a jump-pack.

Well we don’t know if the jet pack will be like it was in Reach or more of a “jump pack” but i do see your point.

No, it’d be a hindrance to map traversal.

I understand we haven’t seen it yet, but I don’t think it will change all that much. Considering H4 takes place a long time after Reach’s events in the timeline, it wouldn’t make very much canononical sense to degrade jetpacks so much. Also, I think if it was going just be a “jump boost” or “jump pack” it wouldn’t be named a jetpack. That would be misleading and unsatisfying.

Just my $.02 though. I know as much as you about it, so we’ll see what comes to pass.

No thanks. Anyone who agrees isn’t a forger that ever used man cannons.

Nope, Halo 2 and 3 didnt have it. So 4 shouldn’t either.

That way, if something does wind up crappy in MM, we can change it easily without damaging any customs.

> yes it would make sense for it to return

It would make sense how exactly? We’ll be wearing Armour that of MK VI or better, which had a gel layer that practically removed fall related damage, why would we suddenly lose this?

I still want fall damage. Someone said above me that something they liked about Halos 2-3 was the lack of fall damage, but that always drove me crazy. Like someone else also said, seeing someone jump out of a banshee or some other vehicle while 50+ feet in the air, or jumping off the top of the building in Headlong with no penalty whatsoever was extremely obnoxious.

I can see not having it in campaign for lore reasons, but as a multiplayer element, I like fall damage because you have to think at least a little bit about what you’re doing when you take some huge jump, and as long as you know your limits and what you’re doing, fall damage will never be a problem. For example: in Reach, if you crouched before hitting the ground, you take significantly less damage, if any at all. The amount of people who still haven’t figured this out astounds me. The fall damage in Reach felt about perfect to me. Don’t wanna go back to Halo:CE, but removing it entirely seems silly, lazy, and pointless to me.
