Like the filters in Reach this would just filter your MM by other means. I don’t think anyone shouldn’t be able to play Halo however it would be nice if it was possible to not play with some groups of people littlekidslol
Anyway in the menu there should be an option for B-Day/age. [I wouldn’t mind this being forced). Now any age is acceptable, 10, 35, 50, 150 and so on. There would be a filter that would work something like this
“Age Restriction”
[options:
Child: <8-13
Young:14-17
Young Adult: 18-25
Adult-26-+<
Wait couldn’t a little kid lie about there age?
I thought of this. In MM if a little kid lied about there age everyone can vote them out of the game and into a younger category (Would need a good amount of votes to prevent mistakes and stupidity) This could work both ways, if an older person goes into a younger lobby they can do the same.
I’de say it would take about 25-50 votes to do this. That way people couldn’t just vote someone out because they felt like it. And there would be no permanent ban!
Anyway it would only be an option, in which you can ignore. However I wouldn’t mind having such an option. Even if it was less or more complicated. What do you say?
Bad and unnecessary idea. If the kid’s parents let them play the game, they should be able to play like everyone else. If I was younger and was kicked out of games because of my voice, I’d probably be very disappointed. I could also imagine this leading to some amount of false age restrictions when it comes to female players as some people may mistake them as children because of the higher pitch of their voice.
There would really be no positive impact on the system either. But you will always have the ability to mute a player if you don’t want to listen them.
P.S. To be honest, I find the OP to be bit unrespectful towards people of younger age. They’re people like us and should thereby have the rights to play like us.
Either some one is one of the “kids” or he loves playing with little kids.
Personally, I would love this, because even tho some little kids my find away round that filter, it’ll filter out the others, I love gaming online, but I don’t do it much any more on the Xbox because of little kids playing M rated games, screaming into their makes, swearing up a storm, and -Yoink!- me off. And I’ve learned the older the player, the funner the game, the older players who started gaming with LAN only titles, tend to be a bit more laxed, they some times talk, but not too much, and they don’t yell into the mic.
Halo is a game for everyone. The rated M for mature is a recommendation, not a law. I welcome new users and players to join in the Halo series and have the joys I myself have had for years with halo.
I have to say that there is absolutely no way for this to work. Although the voting for age group might work some of the time, to get it to work all or even most of the time would be impossible. There are 13 year-old people that sound like their 20, and vice versa.
Lastly, even though I’m 14 I really don’t want to play with 14 year-old players. Although you stated that searching for a specific age group would be optional, how long until it starts hurting players experience playing the game?
It will be like the mute ban, a great idea that began to punish people for no reason.
I would like an actual true skil rank system or something similar to pair up with people similarly skilled to me and not be hidden so i would not question it’s existence despite being told it’s there by 343.
Rather have that than something such as an age filter. Filtering by age doesn’t reduce the frequency lopsided matches nor does it make sense. You can’t filter for maturity, that’s something you have or you don’t. Online, many (not everyone or that be generalizing) people fall into the latter camp full of loud 12 year old kids and adults (both young and old) with superiority complexes and personality disorders. Not to mention that everyone would pick the older ages (including kids) and that would trick the filtering system. This would render it completely and utterly useless as you would be paired up against the very same players that you seek to avoid playing with.
Oh and i like chocolate :).
TL:DR version: Just use the mute button if it’s THAT much of an issue.
While little kids definitely get annoying (yelling into the mic, or just making random loud noises into the mic gets annoying as hell), this idea will probably never make it into the game, or any other games. It’s not that it’s a bad idea, I just don’t think there’s a way to implement it very well. It seems like there would always be a way to get around it. And not only that, but someone could get voted out of the game for being too young (even if they’re 40+) just because there’s a party of people in the game who don’t like him.
It just seems like there would be too many flaws in a filter like that.
Avoiding people, younger or older, who annoy you is as simple as using the mute feature. This seems overly complex and unnecessary when we have something that will allow us to basically ignore whatever person you don’t like.
Not really. I would hate to find that my party can’t find games because a person on my team doesn’t want to play with any 16-year-olds. That would get pretty annoying.
You have a mute button for a reason. Stop being one of these kids who complain about others. Take off your headset or mute them. Grow up. Its xbox live and a video game. Your not signing on xbox live to go to work. Your playing a video game.
I’m tired of kids who complain about others. I could understand if you cannot do anything about it. But you can. Just let it go man…
