Would you like a return of duel wielding?

Duel wielding is one of the most radical and popular improvements added to the Halo series, but only was available for a couple halo games. Would you like to see a return of this feature in Halo 4 or other halo games to come? Discuss below.

It was also available for Halo 3.

I’m not a fan though.

It really seemed like an added bonus, not a core feature.

But still, it provided the illusion of a bigger sandbox, and it added variety to combat. For that reason, I don’t see what would be wrong with bringing it back.

Yes but with some changes.

Dual Wield Weapons are permanently bound together. Players cannot pick up, or drop, just one.

This way the the issue of changing damage values for single and dual wield is rendered moot because you always have both weapons, never just one.

It also allows for easier balance because you don’t have to take into account every possible combination of weapons. You either have dual SMGs, or dual Plasma Rifles, never one SMG and one Plasma Rifle.

That’s my take.

well, you CAN dual wield the Flag and the magnum…

No Thank’s .

Yes but only if dual wielding completely turned off auto-aim / aim-magnetism. I would love to see some skill based CQB rather then just lock-on spray-and-pray.

I could honestly care less. It wasn’t that big of a deal. Just a small feature I never used much.

> No Thanks .

This. I’ve never really seen the point. It’s not that helpful, and you have to drop the other weapon if you want to melee.

That’s the trade off. Melee and Grenade Throw for increased firepower. You lose some tactical options but increase your weapon DPS.

They already said it’s out for Halo 4. I really don’t see how it could work with the amount of buttons it takes to control Halo now adays. You would be sacrificing AA’s and Nades or Reloading and Nades for Dual Wielding. That’s like the only way it could work. Forced reload… Finish up your clips to reload.

I’m happy enough without it.

Never cared for it, so no.

Personally, I loved using dual-wielding.
It’s what made so many of the close-quarters encounters in Halo 2 and Halo 3 so great. And as someone above said, the feature added another nice layer for the sandbox.
Hopefully, they can bring it back in Halo 5.

DW is awful. The guns are either over powered or under powered. Is it good for some LOL’s? Yes, absolutely, but it’s a failed mechanic. Not just in Halo but in other games as well.

Sure, why not.

I would like to see it return in a different way, but it’s not going to happen.

Were it to happen in H5, I’d love to see it return in this way.
Fixed sets of weapons (Example: SMGs would not come as single weapons, only as a set), that act like you would expect from H3. That way you could bring back a few weapons that might have “failed” in the past and make new niche weapons out of them (dual Magnums as a fast firing, close combat alternative to the Pistol, dual SMG’s as fast firing close combat alternative to the AR (making the AR more of an optimal medium ranged weapon).

The downside would be that the system is more restricted. The upside would be that the weapons you’ll get will be more usefull as they’re more or less tailored for a specific type of combat/range/RoF.

Yes I would love for it to be back. It made useless weapons useful, weapons like the smg, mauler, pistol. The Spiker and Plasma Rifle was useless in Halo Reach, weapons that I enjoyed in previous games.

I agree. Even the thought of mixing and matching two weapons together was awesome.

My favorite: Two maulers or one mauler in my right hand and the pistol in my left. :]

Add it to Halo 5.
