I feel that destructible environments could work if it wasn’t the entire environment and more along the lines of being able to destroy barriers and crates and some cover spots, causing you to strategize and reapproach different choke points. Would you buy into it? I feel it could be made to work!
Yes, as long as it isn’t the entire map like in Battlefield. Perhaps a destructible bridge, or tunnels that could be collapsed on top of players. Maybe the supports of a large, hanging object could be shot, bringing it down onto players similar to the map ‘Thrashball’ in Gears of War 3.
Nah I would not like to see them. What if a weapon spawn is suppose to be where there is rubble?
In 4v4 maps? No. In BTB in certain areas to make the map more dynamic? Yes.
I only support it if its in custom games BTB
yes,but as a set of forge pieces so we can make our own destructable maps aswell. And the ability to change how much damage it could take. In H2a I think we are starting to see things similar that change map flow like the waterfall and sheild, but of course destructable things would be perminant if its like a wall.
I wouldn’t mind more interactive elements to maps.
I welcome destructible elements in Halo Multiplayer, so long as it isn’t overdone.
I would definitely like to see destructible elements. Maybe not on the scale of Battlefield but definitely some more minor elements.
i think that there should be some destuctable, maybe lights in a facility can be shot own to crush a spartan?

Or make the destructible environment in places that would create strategic chokepoints on the map thus causing both teams to strategize and work together . . . theoretically.
Sure, to a degree. I wouldn’t want the layout of the maps changing that much unless it’s an iterative map element like the bridge on Zanzibar or Warterworks Stalactites. Crumbling concrete, Covenant wall panels that deform similar to their vehicles, destructible scenery pieces, sure.
I would like to see cosmetic damage to walls and cover like in Battlefield. Not entire structural damage.
Small and simple cosmetic damage (walls chipping, small pieces and chunks flying off , etc.) when shot or from an explosion would go a long way in terms of realism.
THAT would be awesome.
I do not want map changing or player killing destruction. That would break map flow and only cause frustration after the cool factor wears off.
I think it would be a nice change…as long as it ranges from some damage being cosmetic only… to punching holes through cover etc…depending on weapon and material.
A while ago, I proposed giving the Pulse grenade the ability to disintegrate some obstacles. If it can disintegrate Mjolnir, then it can do the same to brick or concrete. There would have to be limits on what it could do, though, to prevent it getting too weird. Thus, I think that there should be a lot of destructible objects in most maps, but make it so that this can be disabled in certain gametypes and let people decide in forge which walls can be tunnelled through.
I lean more towards interactive pieces like hitting a switch to draw a bridge or lower it. Things that you must control so that it adds a tactical element instead of just blowing things up. That being said, Halo has always had small degrees of destructibility and I think that can be included. Not destroying entire cover pieces but perhaps breaking the top off of a stone or brick wall to expose the head and what not would be cool.
I always thought having a cannon on a map that can be activated to do this kind of thing would be amazing- bringing down ships from orbit or skysracpers. This is the kind of destruction that is read about in the books and I think that having it in the games would do tht justice.
I like the idea of it happening on both large and smaller scale.
On most maps small things like bridges and rocks, stuff that is fun to do but does not change the map or gameplay too much.
I would also like one map dedicated to a large-scale mechanic, perhaps a space station falling apart or something. With this they could use gravity and other fun things.
I’m all for some-and I do mean only some-small scale destruction on every map. As far as map changing destructible objects I would say that there needs to be a balance between a one time event and switches. I don’t want these in every map though. Assume that there is a perfect balance of 8 4v4 maps and 8 8v8 maps.
4v4
3 switchable maps
1 one time event
4 regular
8v8
3 one time events
2 switchable maps
2 regular maps
1 mixed map
Randomly generated numbers to show balance
Although parachuting on the building in Siege of Shanghai while the building is collapsing behind you is pretty epic.
I wouldn’t like that
