The reason I ask this is that I was wondering if it turns out that Halo 4 is good and it drastically depletes Reach’s population would you be opposed to 343 gifting the Haunted Helmet to the player’s of Reach. If so what level on the cR tier would consider fair? For me I think anyone who’s managed to unlock all helmets and attachments should be granted the Haunted Helmet. Part of me says go further down to Generals. Now I know a lot of us have been grinding away and feel “hey I’ve gotten to Mythic or higher why should I see some guy who’s just starting out get it that easy?”
Well I can’t see Reach holding the same sort of fervor that Halo 3 did with the Skulls and Road to Recon gimmicks. If there’s only 120 players on MM or Arcadefight your wait time for a match will be memorable. I would say it was time to place the disc next to ODST and move on to 4. The insane amount of cR left to accumulate for those new players seeking out the Haunted Helmet would be daunting especially with very little players left under what will be Halo 4’s release period. It might be a nice gesture from 343 to make and close out Reach’s last year.
I’m trying NOT to bash Reach. I’m just wondering if the writings on the wall in Decemebr would you be okay with the last digital prize being unlocked for the masses much like the All star name tag or blue flame was ?
Kinda as I have just earned mine and with the advent of custom challenges and increased cR cap, its pretty much up for grabs for anybody who wants it, without it being given away.
Though i can imagine some would like to unlock the last helmet without interference from 343. Then it’s a big slap to the face for those who went through the MMO like grind to get the Haunted Helmy.
I would be rathetr annoyed yes, any one can unlock the Haunted Helmet if they put the effort in to get Inheritor, it would seem worthless giving it away.
I seriously doubt 343 would do this. The logic behind recon was that the vidmaster road to recon “service” was being taken off line, so unlocking recon in Halo 3 became impossible. In Reach achieving Inheritor and the haunted helmet will be achievable until the game goes offline(at which point earning credits offline is an unrealistic means of reaching Inheritor).
I think rewards like the helmet should stay rewards forever. Releasing the star nameplate was foolish. Reach has been out for a long time now. If getting to inheritor is a “daunting task” for a new player, then they should get Halo 4 as close to its release date as they can so they can get a jump on any rewards for that game.
I’ve been playing this series for a long time and there are a lot of people who are dedicated to this game. Those people know when new titles come out and get them as soon as they can. They learn the game and become proficient as quickly as possible. I’d venture to guess that these people make up the majority of those who have reached inheritor and have unlocked the haunted helmet.
These people should not be taken for granted by the powers that be by handing out rewards reserved for the most dedicated to everyone for any reason.
I would be upset if 343 decided to give the haunted helmet away for I am a reclaimer and I want to earn my way by playing the game. Its sad how some people expect things to be giving to them just because they want it. Really, oh Halo 4 is coming out and I am not an inheritor yet, so please give me the haunted helmet. You want the haunted helmet then play the game until you get twenty million credits for playing the game is easy and getting credits is easy; especially with custom challenges.
Even though i’m not even close to getting it i’d hate for it to be unlocked for everybody like that. defeats the purpose of having it be that hard to get in the first place. would suck for the people that got it legit.
I didn’t have xbox live or internet access for a year and i was stuck at eclipse the whole time. i just got it back maybe a month ago and am on my race to inheritor. although. i would not mind if they gave it out after halo 4 came out but only to people who got every piece of armor(which is at 10 mil). i was bummed that they gave out recon though i realize it would have been impossible otherwise. but i dont have all the achievements for it but i am going to try and get them anyways before i put recon on in h3. and if they gave it out i wouldnt wear it until i hit inheritor.
