Johnson was by far my favorite character in Halo and when he didn’t i can say that was the first time i cried from the events of a video game. With 343i just yoinking people up from the ashes like 343 and Jun would it be a bad move to bring back probably the most loved person in the Halo series.
I wouldn’t be mad if somehow he got out alive, or if his spirit was somehow fused into 343i Guilty Sparks matrix or something like that. It would surely make me like Guilty Spark more after what he did. To the one and only Avery Johnson!
Speaking of his spirit being put into a Forerunner A.I. matrix how awesome would it be to have 343 Guilty Spark switching in and out of personalities of his own and Johnson. You get two characters in one.
So i ask…if it was possible or simply reasonable for Johnson to come back. Would it be accepted or dismayed.
Because there was less thematic and developmental build up to Johnson’s death than Cortana’s, I would actually be upset by him coming back than Cortana.
Part of that is that his death was much more concrete… substantial than Cortana’s. Halo has in no way established “souls” in the universe.
Cortana on the other hand could be brought back in a way that extends the themes and character arcs that were begun in Halo 4.
So yeah… I will roll my eyes and probably burn some books if Johnson reappears.
If 343i brought Johnson back with some gimmick, like the one you mentioned, I would be “mad”. That guy is dead. He got shot in the chest, close range, and the shot was pure forerunner-based energy. No one could survive that without some extremely good armor. And, well, the control room also fell apart and possibly exploded, so, nothing should be left of him.
I have nothing against him as a character, but bringing back dead characters is too stupid and overused these days.

I would be more angry if Cortana came back because that would make half the feel of Halo 4 irrelevant. All the " We have to get to Hasley" stuff didn’t matter.
Also, Cortanas death didn’t really extend many arks it just mad MC sad. If she returned it would be awkward. IMO

That is impossible. There is no way to just merge a live humans personality to a Monitor without a Composer and there was none present.

Would be silly to bring back dead humans but a personality such as his could probably be introduced again into the ranks of the marines quite easily and still be well received by the fans.

You know in a Sci-fi series like Halo i would think the word impossible wouldn’t really be something people would use. Especially things about Forerunners and Precursors.

I’ve spent all night arguing to Cobra that Cortana could be brought back in a reasonable way… in sci fi anything is possible.
But good gosh no! We got an actual body with Johnson. We watched him get shot by a weapon. He breathed his last breath and died in our arms. There is no mechanism to bring him back that wouldn’t be a retcon in the strictest sense of the word.

Are there even Marines in the UNSC anymore? Seems we only get to see the stories of the Spartans these days. Would be good to bring the Marines and ODSTs back into the action again somehow. I’m sure another Johnson like character would be present amongst their ranks.

Johnson or a good Johnson like character would be great. Also technically Johnson was a Spartan but i agree with you on bringing the Marines back into the show.

Halo is a story about fighting a war, a generally losing one. H4 already had a rocky bit of this because it had to start a new conflict.
People die in war. If everyone can just magically come back via forerunner magic, it loses the whole point. Every halo game has had loss, well except halo 2, cause that game felt like a covenant roflstomp.

I’ve seen enough marines get stuck screaming in pain to know that people die in war…we all have. We have lost alot of people in Halo.
No, please. They’ve already brought back Jun and there’s a slight possibility they will bring back Cortana. I don’t want to see another dead character, especially Johnson, who had barely any chance of survival be revived and brought back into the Halo Universe.
