Since Halo Wars 2 released, some people have been wondering if 343 may be setting up Jerome to become the new lead. Would you be cool if Jerome does indeed become the new lead character of the Halo? I think it may be pretty cool, but as of right now he’s basically a copy of Chief. If he’s gonna become the next lead, they should make him distinct from Chief. What’d you think?
Yes I’d be cool with that and agree, ge shouldn’t just be a copy, that wouldn’t fly. Though if he did I would say don’t expect him to be the lead for long as I think he’s around Chief’s age, right? I’ve been thinking about it and honestly after Chief puts down his gun I wouldn’t mind if every game had a different protagonist cast like ODST and Reach. As long as they’d be good characters I wouldn’t mind not having a single hero to pull us through every game.

I could totally see Jerome taking over eventually and even in he’s current state, he is a completely different character that I don’t think is close to a copy of Chief at all. Jerome is also set with an AI companion in Isabel.

Jerome should be Chiefs age, but if you remember, the Spirit of Fire and it’s crew, including Red Team, went into cryo for 28 years, so Jerome is actually 2 decades younger than Chief now

Story-wise. Don’t take out Spartans. But don’t just give me another B.A. Spartan unit that can do things that are unstoppable. Give me something more like Reach or ODST. Master Chief should be the only one capable of the ridiculousness.

Fair enough, I agree with that actually, however I believe that Jerome could be the more human/grounded/ realistic Spartan that we need and that 343 tried to do to Chief in 4

You might be right. But, I feel like he would be more like Spartan Locke. And I don’t much care for what they did with Locke.
After the backlash to Halo 5, I really don’t think we have to worry about the Chief going anywhere. 343 will play it safe with him going forward as Microsoft’s Mario.
Even if Steve Downes eventually retires from doing the voice, Hollywood is full of talented voice actors, I’m sure they could find one who sounds close enough.
All that said, no - hypothetically, I would have no problem with seeing more Jerome as a prominent protagonist, he and Isabel had a cool dynamic.
I would have to see more from jerome to be okay with it.
I think is going to be around for a bit, but I would love for Jerome to to be the next lead if that ever happened. He is my favorite spartan right now. To me, he fits the “grounded yet optimistic leader” He seems to get along with the non-Spartans much better than chief has (obviously chief has non spartan friends but he definitely is kinda anti-social) and Jerome just feels more… alive? idk, really like Jerome.
I agree with you. They should make campaign DLC where we are playing as Jerome for a couple levels or so for Infinite.

My problem with having Fred as the new protagonist is that he feels too tied to Chief, so why not just stick with Chief?

Yh I didnt much care for Locke either if anything he was just annoying. I liked ODST so much and I feel like they should bring something like that back, like you said give us something more like that. Jerome could be a good character to play as but again it could be a bit like Locke.

Personally my ideal is that they stick with Chief too, so I agree with you. It’s hard to imagine Halo without him
Meh he is cool and all but he just doesn’t fit into the main Halo story, he is a side character IMO he belongs in Halo Wars I think it wouldn’t be bad adding him in future mainline Halo Games but I wouldn’t necessary love it.
I’d just like to see Jerome become part of the main story. I’d love to see Master Chief and Jerome fighting side by side.
