Being able to shoot and aim while sprinting, essentially having a turbo button. It’s redundant, but with the possibility that sprint cant be removed, I think this will help the game play better. I also think that because you need to sprint to be able to slide and charge, it’s not as pointless to have a turbo button.
If sprint can’t be removed, I think this is our best option.
As goofy as this may look I would much prefer that over not being able to shoot while sprinting if sprint absolutely has to stay. Hell, let’s consider that sprint to be the maximum speed Spartans can run at while still maintaining accuracy (due to the fact that Spartans in Halo’s lore supposedly can run up to 60kph or something).

Correct me if I’m wrong, but the fastest spartan could run up to 75 mph. It was kelly I think

Oh hell no. This would be so broken it defies explanation. Why even have normal movement speed if you can shoot while sprinting then. Just no…

Exactly. Buff movement speed a tad and can sprint.
Since sprint is probably in no matter what, I’d be more accepting of sprint if you could shoot, and if it just gave you a small boost. It’s still not good, but not nearly as bad.
I’m not sure how to feel about this idea, but I don’t feel like a huge fan.
I mean you can already expect the obligatory “why not just increase movement speed” response, but anyways.
It would feel weird to me to be trying to shoot, without the capability to strafe (as you can’t really strafe while sprinting). I’m sure pro-sprint people would complain about it breaking immersion as well (as I’m assuming there would either be no sprint animation, or you would awkwardly break the animation each time you fired a bullet). Even then it wouldn’t solve all the issues I have with sprint besides not just being able to shoot.
As a sidenote, a Turbo button would just increase speed in all directions, either temporarily or for as long as its held down. At least, that’s how it worked in any shooter I’ve played that had one.

That’s how I would have it, instead of just moving forward fast, you would move all directions faster, I should have mentioned this before.

Now here is the problem with this.
Currently, you press the sprint button once, you sprint forward, and you either press it again to stop, or you simply stop moving to stop sprinting.
If we applied this to strafe, where you are constantly stopping and switching directions, there’s really only two ways to do it.
People press the sprint button right before strafing one direction or the other, requiring you to be frequently pressing the button.
People hold down the button while strafing.
#1 is a bit unintuitive to say the least, but #2 is impossible. Most controller schemes have sprint mapped to a specific thumb button, meaning you would have to stop aiming in order to hold that button down. This would work with some controller schemes, but be completely broken for others.
On a PC shooter, this problem isn’t present. You just hold down Shift while using WASD.

Or we can press it once, and we speed up, and we press it again to slow down. This was how sprint was kind of handled in h4, where you just press a on the recon controls, and if you had unlimited sprint you just press a again to stop sprinting.
Again though, I don’t think this is the best solution, only the better solution in the grand scheme of things. I would much rather have a fast base speed all the time and smaller maps, but if it’s impossible to fix the maps and get rid of sprint in time for launch, than I think this our best option if that becomes a reality.
I’m gonna be unpopular here by saying I think 343 already balanced sprint as well as it will ever be balanced by nerfing shield recharge. Simple, elegant solution.

I agree. And it’s not unpopular at all… you just see more from the unhappy ones than the rest

This ruins the point of sprint, not the basic function to get somewhere faster but why reach had sprint, why they kept it is to catch people off gaurd. If you want to sprint do it JUST to get somewhere faster because if you don’t then you end up down a shot or 2, try to sprint away instead of fighting you can’t shoot back and it’s a way to promote fighting. If you want to be able to sprint and fight back then they might as well make default speed 2x faster as well
