Would the Falcon be viable?

This thread is not pondering whether or not the Falcon is or is not coming to Halo 5 Warzone. Instead, I want to ask the community a question:

Do you feel the Falcon would be a viable pick in the Halo 5 sandbox?

I do not.

I say this because of the immense amount of anti-vehicle ordnance that exists in the game. I would also assume a falcon would require AT LEAST 6 REQ to call in. So by that time you’re fighting scorpions, ONI hogs, lasers, plasma pistols, hydra, rockets, banshees, and DMR’s

The Halo 5 sandbox does not lend itself well to vehicles unless those vehicles have an over the top offense of defensive mechanism. For example, the ONI Scorpions can last a while due to their immense firepower, and banshee ultras have their maneuverability and their low cool down fuel rod.

The rest of the vehicles fall short. Even ONI hogs and ghost ultras eventually lose their value as the game progresses.

So how can a slow, cumbersome, bulky, and poorly armed falcon survive the fray? Of course, armor and armament can both be adjusted. But that still doesn’t negate the fact you require 3 people to use it properly, and two of the gunners are exposed to all types of fire. You don’t even need a heavy weapon to neutralize the Falcon. Shoot the gunner(s) out and you have yourself nothing more than floating scenery.

In order for the Falcon to be useful, the pilot has to sit still long enough for the gunner to land his or her shots. Well sitting still removes the gunners only defense - movement.

At least there’s firefight, right? Well, I don’t know about you, but even i got shot down in a phaeton sometimes. And those recon pilots have insane amounts of health. Your machine gun on the falcon won’t do much else other than annoy them.

It would be fun on the waves where opposition is limited, but that’s about it.

Long story short, even if the REQ is a Falcon I just don’t think it’ll be very useful in Warzone, either regular or Firefight.

Now, go ahead and stone me to death for heresy.

It could be used as a type of quick transport for certain situations in which you would have to be very strategic about how you maneuver the map to drop of your teammates. They could also add something to buff it a bit to give it a fair chance.

I agree, Falcon is wishful thinking.

I agree with this, even if the Falcon got some sort of movement ability (eg. Phaeton with its “teleport” and Banshee with its rolls) at the end of the day it will still be a flying target that everyone will aim for to get an easy double or triple kill (or normal kill if the driver is insane). This also leads to the next point, the fact you need other people in order to use the Falcon properly is not good and would loose 9 times out of 10 against a Banshee or Phaeton, heck even a Scorpion or Wraith.

I personally would prefer the Hornet, it was alot smaller and the driver could actually dish out the damage while still having seats for other Spartans. Now people keep saying it will work just like the Phaeton but the Hornet isn’t massive with a massive weak spot on its bottom half and in terms of being able to evade shots, it could have a small thrust. Yes that sounds like the Phaeton, but it wont be as easy to kill and unlike the Ohaeton you can have passengers with say, SPNKr Primes?

I just want the falcon for machinima purposes. It has been a long time since a halo game got a unsc aircraft, and it was a warm welcome seeing the hornet appear in H2A.

I giggled here.

On topic, you bring up a good point. The only way I see it being viable is if it’s an uncommon req instead of rare. Then people could call it in sooner. Otherwise it’s going to be destroyed super early as you pointed out.

How are we so sure that it’s not going to be the hornet instead of the falcon. Doesn’t really make sense to use the falcon.
