A question I haven’t seen anyone even pose is if Elites were to return as playable and Spartans retained most of the same abilities they did in 5 then how and would the Elites be changed in their gameplay to match them in combat? Would they even be changed at all?
Now, I am assuming 343 is making the control of your Spartan a little simpler in Infinite but lets just say Spartans still made use of their thruster packs in 5. Would there be a good way of translating that over to Elites? Or should they straight up be given the same mechanism for their armor as well?
Kinda makes sense now one of the reasons the Elites weren’t playable in 5.
For multiplayer balancing, I would think they would have to make the abilities identical, even if they give them different names. If there’s any difference at all, 343 runs the risk of giving an inherent advantage to one player model, which would make the other player model obsolete. That being said, 343 could give each model different abilities, but make the different abilities advantageous for different reasons. This would be very difficult to balance, but potentially makes an interesting choice for the player as they would have to pick the model that best suits their game play style. Idk if I’m making sense so lemme give an example:
Elite Player Model: sleeker design makes for a smaller hit box, but lack of VISR makes the weapons less precise
Spartan Player Model: VISR makes each weapon more precise, but bulkier design makes for a larger hit box
Never even thought of that, good point. 343i LOVES to implement lore into everything they do so I think what they would do is, because the Swords of Sanghelios are allies to the UNSC, they’d work together to implement Mjolnir tech into the Elite armours.
Why were elites removed in the first place?

From my understanding, it was in part due to MLG and HCS competitive type stuff. Essentially the two different player models didn’t make for perfectly balanced competitive play (for example, apparently there’s a glitch in the Elite player model from H3 where if you shoot it in the right spot on the head, the bullet goes straight through instead of causing damage).
