If you started out with close range weapons like an AR and the basic Long range weapons would spawn near the center of the map. That would make more sense wouldn’t it? Something to force players to go towards each other instead of ALWAYS keeping their distance. The only long range weapons that should be towards the outer rim of the map should be the one or two Snipers and maybe a shotgun (ironic, I know). I am not going to talk about Power weapon placement.
Even in Halo 3 I was a tad annoyed how long range weapons would always be away from the center of the map, which makes sense, but isn’t weapon placement meant to promote interaction between player not demote?
That is something I was thinking about and something that I think Halo 5 should promote if they bring weapon placement back.
If anything, utility weapons like the BR and DMR should spawn all over the map, not just the center. Promoting map control is important, but it’s more important that players have tools readily available to fight off spawn and gain some ground. If all the long range weapons were placed in the middle of the map, players would easily be able to take control of the center of the map and spawn trap them; without reliable weapons to fight with, spawn trapping would just be a lot easier.
Take the examples of good competitive maps, like the Pit, Sanctuary, and Construct. All have BRs placed near spawn as well as precision weapons scattered near the center. The BRs near spawn are given so that players would be able to fight their way out of a spawn trap, while the power and utility weapons (carbine, Br, etc.) are scattered around the map as ammo pickups to encourage map movement.
