Would it be possible to tweak the maps more than special nonforge pieces like on condemned?

I was thinking about the underwater portion of forge world and how it all textured and physical. Sure there are many right angles and sharp corners and bends but it would be a great place to forge. What I propose is that if possible 343 could remove the built in kill barrier and tweak the water to remove it. Any one can go into forge mode and reach a hieght where you can see the bottom and are underneath the waves. This proves that they are two seperate objects. The surface or waves could possibly be moved like modders did in halo 3. The other parts of the water include the gravity change which would appear to be slow motion rather than an actual change in physics. There is also the fog layer which provides the blue tone underwater which would also be very hard to remove. This idea is probably impossible but if it could be done relatively easily it could be implemented like the adapted condemned.
Essentially this would create a large completely built in terrain to use for forging without having to create a new map however it may actually take as much work as creating a new map in which case it is pointless.
The insane gametypes add new forge objects to the forge pallet so in theory it could be possible to move pre programmed objects such as the pinaccle on forge world or rocks we cannot use or even the sea level by assigning the call items to a forge piece possibley even allowing for the deletion of the sea or certain land masses.

Raising the water level would be pretty interesting… But those kinds of tweaks would be very limited – on Forge World, anyway. On a map like Countdown or Anchor 9, I can see 343 doing things like adding or removing lifts and making other changes that we can’t in Forge.

This is a good idea, but sadly, it’s limited by the game engine.

> The insane gametypes add new forge objects to the forge pallet

No, every object used in the Insane gametypes is already Forgeable (except for the Spartans and Elites in Halo Chess, of course).

> so in theory it could be possible to move pre programmed objects

This is completely correct, but to the best of my understanding, the pre-programmed objects have to be dynamic or otherwise separate from the terrain.

For example, if Bungie wanted to, they could’ve created extra copies of the SAM launcher in High Ground or the Flood pods in Cold Storage, but they weren’t able to add, say, a new pillbox bunker or a new window room. The first two objects were their own separate units, so to speak, so they could be referenced in a map variant file.

> such as the pinaccle on forge world or rocks we cannot use

And this is where we unfortunately come to a problem. I’m reasonably certain that the terrain is all defined as one object – the Rock, the Quarry, some of the formations in the Canyon… It’s all one big chunk, and I don’t think it can be separated.

> or even the sea level

I think this could be edited, like it was in Foundary and Last Resort. It’d be interesting to see it changed.

Unfortunately, the kind of edits we’re describing aren’t possible with the standard player-available Forge. Only people with the right tools can do it, and only Bungie and 343 have legitimate access to such tools.
