Would Have Rather Paid for DLC

Thought we got the chance to have free DLC in this game, I still feel like we got shafted big on these maps. Now I am not talking about textures and art style and etc., but just to overall gameplay on these maps. I feel 90% of these maps are just closed off and cluttered junk. If free DLC means garbage maps, then I will gladly pay up for some actually playable maps. How do you guys feel?

I don’t think there is any reason to assume that having paid for the maps would’ve meant the maps were better designed.

No, but people have more voting power with actual purchases. If I wasn’t satisfied with the maps, I could request a refund or charge back on my card. I could down vote the DLC pack. I can’t down vote a required update let alone play without it, I have little say in the matter the way things are now.

True there is not a for sure way of knowing, but you can see most maps have a twin in this game but maybe scaled down and new colors and a few more or less objects on it. It is pretty obvious they got lazy with it. So it can relate to the fact “hey do not spend to much time working on these they are free.” mindset.

That is true, but I have a suspicion we would have ended up paying for bad maps. The problems with map design in H5 seems pretty systemic. The arena maps are all small and hallway focused and the two out of the three warzone maps they’ve added have the same issues as the worst of the initial three (IMO.) While we may have had recourse, the op’s post still seems a non-sequitur.

It’s possible that is the cause, but we really don’t have enough info to say. Basically what we know is that most of the maps are bad or at least bad IMO.

Also you’d never get to play the DLC because not everyone would buy them, well… considering the maps we got that wouldn’t have necessarily been a bad thing.

I vote for some kind of community polling for maps each month, forge made. There are some very skilled map makers out there that I know could produce high quality, playable maps.

They could always go the DLC playlist route. I know it would just split the community even more but having maps that are actually fun to play could have kept the population around a little longer too. I do not think i have joined a game yet and not hear someone say "OMG NOT THIS MAP ". someone can only go so long before just plain out getting tired of that.

Yeah, I’d definitely love to see more community maps. I wish I had half the artistic skill some of the forgers have. They can make maps I would find nigh impossible to imagine.

Agreed. And community voting would help keep us together and stronger when the majority can agree on something also. Forgers would also get some attention that Ifeel they much deserve as well.

I feel less shafted by free dlc than paid for dlc.

Games I paid for the dlc I didn’t get to play the dlc as much as I wanted in multilayer games. If I could still play halo 4 dlc and all the game modes were available I would still be playing it.

who likes to pay for anything?
