I’m almost never picking them up, or if I am I’m finding them incredibly frustrating to use. Personally, I really like the weapon balance otherwise. One additional gripe I have is it feels like it takes forever to swing the hammer and sword, but other than that really enjoying where the game is at balance wise.
*For the Bulldog, it irks me we don’t have a solid shotgun in game that wallops at close range. I do hear the classic shotgun is forthcoming as a power weapon.
Ugh not sure about the hammer… the swing is slow but shock range makes it extremely OP imo. It has a similar blast range of Tartarus gavel from Halo 5, that thing was OP too but that one was a LV 7 mythic weapon exclusive to a game mode that had more OP weapons.
Its lowkey unbalanced compared to the rest of the games imo, previous hammers had you risking yourself by getting really close to an enemy In infinite i dont even need to be that close because the shockwave will get me the kill, feels like theres barely any counter against it unless you have a power weapon that can insta kill the enemy holding it.
The weapon pickups in this game are incredibly underwhelming. Like, picking up a power weapon in the old games felt like this rush of adrenaline because if you used them right, you could rack up big kills or if you lost them it could devastate your team for the next few minutes.
In this game, everything is so pitifully weak that people straight-up ignore weapon spawns and losing one isn’t really a big deal. The only thing that gives me even a little bit of the old “rush” is the Rocket Launcher on Streets and the Sniper on Behemoth, but the Bulldog is a disappointing replacement for the classic pump action and none of the new guns feel like they can turn the tide.
The pulse carbine needs a red reticle range buff. It’s red reticle range is too low to make it practical.
The Ravenger has potential but it’s projectile is too slow, i swore someone said it’-Yoink!- scan but judging by its tracing its not and I legit couldn’t kill someone 50 meters away when they suddenly moved left or right right after I shot (which with a br would have hit them).
The Heatwave is literally garbage from day one, it feels great when you actually hit stuff but you have to try way too hard to do anything with it, even in an enclosed area, the horizontal mode is literally useless.
The Plasma pistol literally tracks like garbage, it is pretty much pointless to use, give it back the emp even if we have to shoot things with two charge shots.
The disruptor feels like a bb gun, it can be useful, but why not give it a headshot bonus lime the sidekick? Why not reduce the emp shots to 7 shots on vehicles? Also I think the electrical effect shouldn’t kill you because you can’t really avoid it at times.
The shock rifle is surprisingly good when you figure out its hits can.
The mangled needs less drop over time. I’ve been challenged by it and it’s a great thing to be shot at because everyone at my level ain’t hitting nothing.
The hydra to me is actually okay, it could do with a Halo 5 style zoom in with increased range though.
The skewer to me is actually a great weapon it’s like the spartan laser but if it was a projectile. I prefer that it stay a skill weapon.
The commando should just get the AR treatment and give no bonus to zooming in. They nerfed it too much.
Now that I think of it I’d definitely add Ravenger to my list of weapons needing a buff. The AoE I think could be dramatically improved by doing more damage in less time.
The bulldog is a mid tier weapon. I actually prefer it only because it has more application due to its range and rate of fire. It’s weaker dps allows players to respond to it which the old shotgun you generally were dead. But they should bring the og shotguns back as power weapons.
The sniper is okay, it’s slowed fire rate just throws me odd for now. The rockets are surprisingly overwhelming. The skewer is a skill weapon and I 9ften find I just waste it.
The Ravenger is the box gun right?? I thought it was that long range red gun. That thing sucks so bad. I think the shots should cause a burn effect if you get hit by too many similiar to the charge shot.
the pulse carbine ain’t terrible, i honestly kinda like it. a evolution of the plasma rifle.
the mangler ain’t the bulldog… but is just a leagues weaker skewer. there’s no reason to use this
the disruptor is just a weaker shock rifle… redundant
heatwave, it has a unique fire to it and ult fire. room control. not the best but i accept it
skewer, it’s this game’s spartan laser… dunno where the laser went, but i accept this replacement
ravager, aside from the alt fire of fire aoe… yeah, useless
hydra, i honestly like this version more than the halo 5 version. it feels more ballanced… despite the fact that it doesn’t suit the UNSC
now the stalker rifle? THAT IS USELESS. same goes with the plasma pistol. seriously, there’s no reason to use the plasma pistol over the disruptor. they gave the EMP aspect of the plasma pistol to the distruptor… because of course
That’s the problem with a lot of these weapons. In theory they all work but in practice I find they are unreliable.
Namely the commando is way too hard to control, even with tap fire I find I barely can control the firerate sometimes shooting twice because the tap fire is pretty hard to master in a firefight because if you are too slow you die, but if you are too fast you die. It also is weak compared to the BR.
The pulse definitely needs a range lock on increase.
The dirsruptor is dumb, they need to give it headshots, make the electrical effect NOT kill Spartans (vehicles are another story). And it should allow you to emp vehicles a little faster.
Also the plasma pistol should get a emp again even if it needs 2 charged shots.
The heatwave I started off not understanding where it fits, but then I figured you ALWAYS use vertical spread and it is more powerful than the bulldog if you can lead your shots, plus you can get some cheeky bounce shots in CQC.
You’re just wrong with the skewer, it’s a one shot body, long range, fast projectile gun. It’s super deadly.
And then the other brute/plasma weapons, I agree they’re quite meh, but they still have their place and I still have a heap of fun using them.
a place? the plasma pistol doesn’t have a place, its place was given to the disruptor, and even then… the power weapon of the shock rifle took the disruptor’s place and does the same thing with less shots
In BTB, I absolutely agree, but in arena, the over charge has pretty strong tracking and during its flight time I switch to BR or Sidekick to pop them in the head.
even then… kinda bleh. i dunno… the removal of its EMP to vehicles kinda makes it bad. and the EMP to players i guess is fine… though i never see it used, at all. heck i see the disruptor being used more over the plasma pistol. which is fair, the distruptor fires i think faster, the projectile goes certainly faster, thus pops shields faster, and does some electrical damage
Pulse carbine can two-shot enemies if you aim for the head. But the projectile is slow and easily dodgeable, so it may take three or four shots. Still not a bad weapon.
Mangler is better than the bulldog at close quarters. It increases meelee damage. Shoot once, punch once, and the fight is finished. Guaranteed two-hit kill.
Disruptor… I’ll agree with you. If it has a situational use, I couldn’t find it yet.
Heatwave is pretty good and very fun to use. Great for finishing up a weakened enemy hiding behind cover. Inside corridors it’s pure mayhem.
Skewer is good both against vehicles and Spartans. It’s better than the sniper rifle at close or medium range, since that’s a one hit kill regardless of where you hit the enemy. But the downside is that it’s hard to use and it doesn’t have a very far range.
Ravager could be better. As others have pointed, that’s an area of denial weapon good for eating up shields, but if you take it to a one-on-one situation, you need to have a plan B to finish the job, like the sidekick.
Hydra is fantastic. I use it as a shotgun. Without the tracking alt-fire, it’s a two hit kill. That’s better than the bulldog. And the out-fire is great against vehicles or other moving targets.
Now, the weapon I find most useless is the STALKER RIFLE. What’s the point of a sniper rifle that takes three headshots to kill? Nope. I’d rather stick to AR + sidekick. Or my bare fists. Meelee is probably more efficient at long range than that POS.
