Worth Getting a 4k HDR TV for Halo 5?

This news makes me so excited and accelerates my TV purchase timetable…but maybe the tech experts know better. (Was going to make this a poll, but there are multiple factors to consider, like 4k monitor for visual precision vs 4k TV for visual real estate, how much of a price premium HDR is worth, etc.) No matter what, I’m thrilled that this game will look even better than it already does.

No way my dad is going to spring for 4K after we just got a new black and white.

LOL, well Halo 5 Noir sounds pretty cool.

Well if you get a Xbox one X you pretty much have to get a 4k TV or monitor. What would be the point of getting the Xbox one X if you can’t use it to it’s full potential. I am glad H5 is getting a 4k patch but I don’t know if that is enough for me to get a Xbox one X and a 4k monitor at launch. Now if that LA Noire remaster rumor becomes true that plus the H5 in 4k maybe enough for me to spend the money.

I’d rather do it for H6 over H5, but that’s just me.

Yes, there will be more games to play in 4K as well.

I will. Only concern is how much input lag will 4K hdr monitors have.

4K is still very much an emerging technology. 4K TVs are expensive and really just a luxury item. Buying a 4K console and Television for an aging game would seem silly to me, especially considering the price of the said screen and console.

So really, IMO, if you have a heck load of spare money in the bank then go ahead. Buy this luxurious item. Otherwise I’d suggest just sticking with your presumably 1080p set up until 4K becomes more of a standard rather than luxury.

…What?? They’re remastering L.A. Noire??
And I thought I heard that the X1x would make 4k patched games visually better even in regular 1080p TVs.

That’s a good point: Halo 6 must be somewhat around the corner and that time will increase the adoption of 4k by households. I guess I’ve also been tantalized by the talk of the X1x improving visuals in 4k-patched games even on regular TVs and 1080p monitors.

If you’re not playing on a monitor you’re doing it wrong bro

If you still have Xbox One original or S when the 4k update is live then probably not much point in getting one but if you plan to get an Xbox One X then it might be worth it. I’m mainly considering the console first but not sure about if I need or want a 4k tv myself.

Let’s see, for Halo 5: Guardians?
Short answer; No.

For Forza Motorsport 7.
Of course.

I would like to see a Halo 5 comparison first between 1080p and 4k at a Microsoft Store or something before spending all that money.

Well it is just a rumor but a few sites are reporting it. Yeah they say a x box one x will make games visually better on a 1080p tv/monitor but it still won’t be 4k. You can pick up gamig monitors for $300-$400 right now and they may go down in price during the holidays. I prefer monitors over TV’s.

Pretty sure Phil said this too at E3. It’s just people without 4k TV’s won’t see everything as good but still the power behind the Xbox One X is convincing enough for me.

car payment for 6 months or tv…can’t decide

See, I try to tell my mates this… I’m not attracted to the X at this point. Maybe once my box starts dying and the price is seriously slashed.

I wouldn’t say it’s worth it, but I’m happy with a 32" screen.

I wouldn’t buy it just for Halo…
