With the possibility of Elite allies returning in Halo 5 with the Arbiter and his Swords or Sangheilios. I present the question of keeping the covenant language for enemies or returning to Halo 2 - 3 where the covenant handed out “The complete guide to humanity and their languages”.
I would personally like it if all Elites spoke in their native tongue, and subtitles were used to convey their dialogue. However, I realize that this would be distracting trying to read what some elite is saying while legendary enemies are tearing you apart and fornicating with your various orifices. So I believe the best solution would be to have ally elites speak the same language as humans, while enemy elites scream WORT WORT WORT, as they send jackals to ruin your day. I enjoyed the storm covenant in Halo 4 as it felt more like the covenant in Halo CE, a menacing alliance of aliens that want you dead. I never liked how in Halo 2 and 3 you can understand the taunts the covenant throw your way, it made the covenant feel less alien. I realize this was because you played as the Arbiter for half the game and Bungie needed the player to like the elites enough that they wanted to play as one.
Let’s be honest, there is no way an elite could speak any human language they have no lips or tongue, both necessary to produce sounds need to speak in most languages. I assume elites make sounds by contracting some sort of throat -Yoink!- and possibly by clicking mandibles together. Elites are weird, I wonder what they smell like. I imagine that they smell like old sweaty leather. Grunts literally smell like -Yoink-, cause of the methane. Have you ever wanted to stick your hand into a hunter? I bet it would feel really weird, like a mass of snakes covered in lube. Jackals suck. They just suck there is nothing more to be said. Jackals probably don’t even taste like chicken. I hope that brutes return in Halo 5, I was surprised to find that I missed them in Halo 4 as I got sick of fighting them by the end of Halo 3. Brutes probably smell like a wet gorilla that bathes in the blood of its enemies. It would be cool to fight some san’shyuum in Halo 5. Now that the covenant has fractured and the bulk of the military have gone back to their homeworlds I assume that the san’shyuum will have to get out of their floatie chairs and start pulling their own weight if they want to continue the great journey. They are probably more useless than grunts in combat.
Why not a mixture of English and Covie speak? For example, and I’m obviously working off assumptions here, Thel’s allied Covies could speak English and look like original trilogy Covies while the bad guy Covies could speak their own languages and look like Halo 4 Covies. All Elites could say wort wort wort, of course.
What I’m assuming is that the H5G Sangheili will speak English when speaking to humans, but revert to Sangheili when conversing with one another or in the middle of battle. This would be a more realistic take on human-alien communications.

thats exactly what should happen for exeption of some elites speaking only sanghelian since i dont believe every elite would even bother try to learn any human languane.
I preferred English. I can sorta see what they were going for with the new alien language, but it was always amusing hearing the Covenant freak out in English. That, and their insults/exclamations after they killed you was just icing on the cake.
I would prefer if the elites following the Arbiter would speak english. It allows for a better connection between species. It would also make sense since these elites are allied with humanity and should speak english when their conversing with humans. Personally I would love to see some levels in Halo 5 were we could play as an elite, the Arbiter or one of his companions.
