Actual maps would be far more preferable, id rather pay for dlc.

People have been begging for Forge Maps by actual Forge users since Halo 3.
And who said paying for DLC would get you higher quality maps? For all you know, they would have made these maps, maybe something slightly better, package them all in for you to buy.
Regardless, having map packs was poorly handled since Halo 3 as well, which is why we did away with them.
As much as I really hate the forge maps,u really think that’s the worst thing about halo 5?

I’d honestly prefer that 343 not design the maps unless something has changed entirely at 343’s design team, considering that a bunch of them are kinda -Yoink- in Halo 5.

And I’d rather not.
I’m a fan of having all the forge maps. Especially the BTB ones. Those are fantastic and play great. I wouldn’t mind if 343 never made a BTB map again lol.
Are you saying you want paid DLC because you think the maps would be better or because you just want dev made maps? I can say the first choice wouldn’t guarantee that.

They are capable of making good maps, and just because paid dlc has been handled poorly in the last it doesn’t mean it shouldn’t exist. Just make the price justifiable and find a way to avoid what happens with reach and halo 4’s dlc maps. If cod can manage it, I’m sure halo can.

For me personally it is up there, that and the radar size in arena.
I don’t mind forge maps. They have added better textures and it’s fun to get different maps mixed in.

Then they need to take tips from the many complaints they have got and improve.
What specifically do you dislike about Forge maps? In my opinion as long as the map plays well it’s a good map, I’d much rather have some remakes done in forge of classic maps like Beaver Creek, The Pit, Guardian etc. than some new developer made maps.

I’m saying I would like to go into a btb session without finding low resolution, scrambled textured and quite ugly maps.
Dont get me wrong I couldn’t do anywhere near as good a job as the people who made these, but actual art rather than generic canvases would be better. The game looks quite tatty tbh.

I wouldn’t mind as much as long as it wasn’t pretty much every game they come up.

I don’t like the look and feel of them. It is very obvious that someone built them from forge, even to someone who may be new to halo and has never seen forge in action.
And i I would love to see new maps and old maps.

I will just have to respectfully disagree, I think it’s a bonus if maps look nice and are aesthetically pleasing but ultimately my enjoyment of a map is entirely dependent on how it plays, not how it looks.

Drell Assassin (he’s sometimes here on waypoint) did join 343 to create maps, and he did say he was going to take inspiration from halo 3, so that’s a plus, right? He also contributed to the creation of the breakout 2.0 maps, so that may tell you a little about him depending on whether you think they’ve been improved or not.
OP, I see what you mean, but paying for DLC won’t change anything. I’d want most of the maps to be dev made, but if there’s an amazing forge map, it can be added to matchmaking. The breakout maps can stay forged because they don’t even look forged.

Yeah, I’ve seen him about. I’m hoping they’ll be able to improve their map design with some new talent on board, because I’m not a huge fan of some of the maps currently in Arena.

Yah, they feel like they had the same mindset when designing each map. I do like a few of them like Plaza, Mercy, and Coliseum.

I enjoy Coliseum and a couple others, but some of the maps (Molten and the Rig for me) just feel awkward.
I feel as if the community can make better maps than 343i can. Molten? Overgrowth? Riptide?
The new BTB maps are pretty well made. I give kudos to them for doing what developers used to do (make maps)
