Now, before you ask, I thought this too. When I saw a video showing how much aim assist and magnetism there was in Halo 4, I thought to myself that it was much worse than it was in previous games.
That’s false.
I bid you now, go load up Halo 3. You can aim the same amount of length off of a person in Halo 3, as you can in Halo 4.
What about reach? Well, reach had more to tell the truth. In reality, the sniper magnetism and aim assist is very toned down in Halo 4, as it compares to reach.
There is no more aim assist in Halo 4 than there were in the last 3 Halo games.
The sniper system when scoped, is easily as difficult to use as Halo 3’s, the no scopes however are much easier to pull off. Sweep sniping when no scoped is much more effective than any Halo game previous, bar Halo 2.
I have not tested Halo 2, but I know CE isn’t this bad. The problem that plauged Halo 2, was sweeping. That problem is no longer present in Halo 4.
The problem with Halo 4 lies in the stickyness of a reticle. It rivals Call of Duty’s amount, to the point where it will occaisionally track through walls. Halo 4 has a ton more aim assist than either reach, or Halo 3 had.
Now, I hope this topic isn’t overlooked. I’ve seen a lot of people going and saying how much worse Halo 4 is in terms of magnetism, and that’s not true.
I bid you to go test it out yourselves, in all the Halo games. Try sweeping, no scoping and aiming the reticle off the person to see how far you can aim off them and still register a hit.
You’ll find Halo 4 is better in some regards. It still has it’s problems, of course, but magnetism isn’t really one of them.
