Worst hit detection in Halo history

Fix your servers 343. Stop making me insta die when I am full health to an automatic weapon, fight two guys lag strafing, and then proceed to get spawn killed. Sick of your broken game because you actually think your servers are good enough for out of region matchmaking. They aren’t. Put ping bars in the game, and let us chose which server to connect to. I live in East Coast US, not Australia, Mexico, or Europe. Just lost like four matches due to lag every match and one laggy join in progress. There were crucial deaths in two of the last three games that would have swung the entire game all thanks to your lag comp.

Going back to Titanfall until you fix your servers.

I live on the East coast as well and I don’t see lag but every once in a while and i’ve been playing every night for a month anc every weekend since launch. I’ll be playing today and update this. As far as worst hit detection , no that honor goes to Halo 3 even to this day on MCC.

Well I see lag every game. There’s a lot of enemies teleporting, but clearly having the edge on me. I shoot first, die first. I snipe people in the face and get hitmarkers or don’t hit at all. I even was just spartan charging an AFK teammate and he would stand still for an extra second before it took effect. This hitscan game even refunds bullets so there’s a lot of BS going on here. Halo 3 had a bad spread for the BR, but that’s about it. The bullet magnetism made up for it in any sort of mid-close range gunfight anyway. This game has MW3 level -Yoink- with its lag comp and bullet curving.

Worst hit detection in Halo history goes to Halo 3…by far. It’s not even close.

I have a rock-solid 100 Megabit (20 up) connection, and according to my xbox, my ping averages at sub-15ms. (sometimes less than 10) I see hit detection problems. Not constantly, but often enough. It’s most evident in SWAT, since every shot could be a kill. Especially in SWATnums, where the Magnum is torturously hard to aim after using the BR for a few rounds.

The only way you can get a better connection than I do is to get Google Fiber, or to be connected from inside 343’s studio itself. So trust me, it’s not ping, connection speed or quality.

Not really. I’m a 50 and had a solid 3 k/d in ranked matchmaking. I don’t expect perfect, but Halo 5 servers have it out for me.

I said I would comment after playing last night since I also live on the East coast of the USA. I actually live almost in the middle of the east coast (NC). i played numerous games last night in slayer, Swat and Warzone. Maybe 15 matches in total. OF those, I only noticed lag one time. Once out of 15 or so matches I think is respectable and acceptable. but again, that was just my experience last night.

Halo 3 at launch has the absolute worst hit detection of any halo game. You might be experiencing some packet loss because I haven’t had many hit detection problems since the first week of launch

Being a 50 means absolutely nothing. H3 hit detection aka hit scan was horrid. H2 Vista is still the worst. H5 hit detection is fantastic, it sounds like it’s your connection. I also live on the East Coast, I might have 1 lag filled game out of 100 or so games.

I definitely hate server side hit detection constant die behind a wall or heat seeking snipe rounds when trusting.

Hitscan is when a shot is instantly registered, it is basically the opposite of projectiles, which is when an actual projectile comes out of the gun, travels across the map and potentially hits a target.

The hit detection in Halo 3 was actually pretty good, the problem was that many people didn’t know the difference between Hit scan and projectiles, and didn’t know that Halo 3 had projectile weapons. This meant you had to lead your shots.

You are correct. Worded it wrong. Still, on P2P servers, leading your shots were just silly. I did not enjoy H3 as much as many did.

I said I would report back so here it is - Ok, So I live on the East coast of the USA too. I played 7 games of Warzone yesterday. One, I got booted back to the menu resulting in a DNF. and another had horrible lag. So thats 2 games of 7. Thats roughly 28% or rounded 1/4 of the matches I played had server issues. Did anybody else experience this yesterday? I also experienced it earlier this week but thought it was just an anomaly.

No it really is terrible. Please 343 fix your game. It’s such a basic component that should have been working from the start.

Some days it’s a blast to play and others like today… Played warzone.
Spartan charging into the back of people makes me lose my shield and they just bounce away? 2 hit kills off of people? Really? Didn’t know the BR coukd supercharge into a 2 shot weapon? Literally hammering down people with the smg and getting about 7 assists in a row… My favourite though, is when people have no shields and they can sponge an entire clip and then 1 hit KO me.
