> I think it does a perfect job a competative Arena shooter and Warzone is great fun too. It’s the best Halo multiplayer since Halo 3 in my opinion. That said there are a lot of flaws. It would be 100x better if they’d add Infection and some kind of community playlist for example. The req system is killing halo more than people think too.
I could not agree more. I love halo 5. H2 is still my love though. I don’t mind the req system though.

> Yeah, this is definitely true, there’s almost no room for actual fun in Halo 5.
Halo 5 has the worst Halo campaign, an Arena built as a shameless and failed attempt to attract a contemptuously disinterested Esports community while unabashedly ignoring the casuals that make up a large and loyal player base, and then there is Warzone which feeds a near endless grind to encourage throwing countless piles of money at a unforgiving RNG.
With all that negative stuff obligatorily mentioned, I do enjoy SWAT, Warzone Assault and little of the other playlists from time to time. Also, I am looking forward to Warzone Firefight.
Halo 4 felt like the game was falling apart. I don’t know if anyone else felt like that, but I always felt like the engine is held together by duck-tape and bubble-gum.
Halo 5 has a solid engine and the whole experience feels really good.
Its 3rd favourite on my list. It no where near comes to the standard that Halo:CE and H2 did/do but its far better than H3/H4 & Reach.
I’m happy with it.
Definitely does not match the overall standard. For me, the dismal campaign is the kicker. Even Reach’s canon re-organising campaign, which previously had the title of worse Halo game for me, was far better at telling an interesting story than H5’s completely random and nonsensical one. The physics of the Spartans? Yeah well done, personally really like it, probably the best, but it is tarnished by few varied modes, a lack of vehicles/exotic weapons in Arena/social (a scummy ploy on 343’s part to get us to purchase REQ packs for the CHANCE to POTENTIALLY use vehicles/exotic weapons in their Warzone mode), lack of customisation of character (especially considering we are on a more advanced console and that they had customisation in THEIR previous game) and few (often forged) maps we can’t even vote on.
If this was the first Halo or some random new IP then yeah I could give this game a high score, however it has 6 games from which it could draw on, 6 choruses of voices yaying and naying various aspects and they seem to have ignored most of the nays and got rid of things nobody seemingly had issue with, for instance I don’t like zombies and abhor split screen but I wouldn’t have taken them out, because I know large sections of the community love those things and have done so for ages.
Halo 5 is obviously the worst in it’s day. This game will not survive unless they realize how boring it is and fix it.
i’m playing Reach again right now and I just brought the nearly pointless dlc’s that are not even in the playlist anymore. Sadly, im still having more fun with parts of Halo Reach than all of halo 5.
Why only judge when comparing to memories of 3,4, etc.?
Do have a look around and realize that the Halo series has been sort of a blessing in gaming. Sure not all can be what everyone wants or expects, but we could have gotten MUCH worse than what we have.
I’d agree its development process of Halo 5 has had one goal clear throughout which is making a refocus on competitiveness I’m not saying thats a bad thing but because 343 have terrible Management/processing skills that took priority over everything else in this game, Campaign lacking, forge hardly even polished by launch and custom games sorely missed from the game as well.
So yeah Halo 5 got one thing right I say but completely failed at trying to get the other ends to meet.
I’m not without complaints, but this is the smoothest gameplay yet in my opinion. The removal of H:R & H4’s armor mods, coupled with the addition of sprint is a good mix of making traditional Halo work alongside other modern FPS games.
Breakout was an awesome addition even if I’m in Slayer most times.
I just wish the basic modes had more map variety, especially when several arena (not Warzone) maps are mostly just remixes of on-disc maps. However, adding forge maps would solve this.
I think Halo 1 is the worst due to it using same maps in later levels of the game, it has Library, the single worst mission in the series and overall its gameplay is not quite as timeless as Halo 2 and later games in the series. Its still a great game though.
