Worse thing that happens to you in forge?

I’m not really a experienced forger and tend to just go half way into something before loosing interest but I have to say, I keep having this common issue that seriously drives me nuts.

Some people can say that the worse thing is to have forge crash on them mid progress.

But I must say, my worse case scenario is whenever you create some LARGE creature-like thing, or ship, etc and you felt like “It’ll look better here” and the next thing you know, -BAM- Not only you but your worth while creation is sling shot out of existence to the outta map before dying and the worse thing of all…you can never get that creation back.

That’s my biggest issue with the current forge. I’d like to see an option to actually navigate outside the barriers without those bleedin’ killzones. It will A: have more of a creative location (like in alpine, make a station afar form the land and perhaps go there or Tidal on how you can go from surface to sea without that insta kill)

I would say that the worst case scenario type of experience for me, which I think has only happened maybe once or twice due to extreme caution, would be just adding extra things to the map or editing things out just to either joke around, or see what things would look like, and then accidentally save the map without making a second save file as a back up, so the map is essentially saved as a mess.

The worst thing that happened to me is one day played forge with my friend (and he is there to mess around while i build) he gets bored and invites a friend to go Head to Head with. later his other friend invites some oh his friends so now it would be a doubles match (just in forge instead of Custom Games) then they will make the crazy hybrid weapons like the Georges chain gun that fires missiles and kill me with it and i will pull out my personal favorite rail gun&scattershot hybrid and kill them with it. then they get upset and delete my stuff so usually when some one does that I just script a button or brain so as soon as they spawn they die. i would do this for about 2 minutes so I don’t upset them to much (because i have a heart unlike some people in the public forge lobbies). Apparently they think “Oh i messed up his forge a bit so I’m going to invite some of my friends to mess with this guy some more”. then they kill me where sometimes when you die as a Monitor the game will not let you pick up or move anything. As they have fun deleting my forge i can’t do a single thing about but just watch my 9+ hours disappear in front on my one little light bulb for an eye. As i say when i match them in Custom Games and Kick their *** i say this at the end “you shouldn’t have shaken the light bulb” (similar to Tartarus’s mistake in Halo 2)

Well, the ground ate me, I got stuck under map and couldn’t get out

Trying to copy a building and it just not going right

Two words, ‘edit coordinates’. You can never lose an object if you’re holding it and editing coordinates. It’ll let you go wayyyyyyy out of the boundaries doing this. Be extra careful when moving objects or large groups/welds toward the map boundaries without editing coordinates or you’ll likely lose it in the void.

My biggest issue with Forge is advanced scripting mechanics getting broken/fixed every update with no word from the dev; number checks don’t really work anymore but they finally fixed boundary checks; moving teleporters works again but spawn weighting doesn’t work outside of slayer modes anymore. I don’t think they even know, because they themselves don’t even mess with Forge’s advanced capabilities.

Things are not rendered when they are too far away, including players and extremely large objects the player should still be able to see.

To those who have had themselves or the part they were holding shot out of the map here’s some tips

when you’re placing objects near an out of bounds area (common place to be shot out of map) save before going in to place it. Using Position can help but if you push it too far it will still launch.

Lost an object (NOT prefab) out of the map?
Spawn the same object, go to object options, select all, go around deselect the ones not outside the map, delete last remaining one as it’s the lost part.

Friends deleting your hard work?
Most important rule of Forge
Work by yourself

Got a buddy you want to Forge with who you trust to do his share of work?

Talk about what you want out of the map. What features you want to add, what theme you want to add, keeping it balanced. Know their Forge skills, you might be able to teach them or assist them in making something they can’t. Making sure they turn off lightbake on everything.

If you’re anything like me the conversation but is EXTREMELY important. Only did one collab and it was like talking to a brick wall. I went off and remade 99% of it. Make sure you have a plan.

As for my worst issues in Forge is hitting budget cap before finishing. Or having a the map actually break and become unplayable because my budget was in the red/ yellow (If you enter Forge and you start as a Spartan rather than the Forge ball… REDUCE your budget or lose it all.) If you ignore that warning sign in your map and go further over budget you will no longer be able to enter Forge ball or save. The game will crash within 5 minutes or less every time you use it in custom games.
When you’re near the limit when too many people join your game it could crash. To fix reduce the highest budget by a little bit then reload in custom games to stress test.

Objects moving slightly out of position in custom games despite looking perfect in Forge. Forcing you to put them out of position in Forge so they stay aligned in custom games.
